Who gives a crap if they hate each other .... the only thing that matters is the Clippers and Balz sucking and circling the drain. OX .... probably
They are sooo terrible. There's only one thing from preventing it from being the best thing in the league... They're about to give OKC a franchise player.
clips have no incentive to tank, so they'll finish high enough to keep okc from getting a top-5 pick, imo. the wiz, bkn, indy, and charlotte will out-tank them even if they try, right? utah is a seasoned tanking veteran. masters of the second-half swoon. ok...actually they might have a shot at a top-5 pick... though that also adds 8m to their 246 million payroll, too, so i wonder what they'll do. i'll take caruso dumped into our space, plz.
I think it is more likely that Kawhi gets injured again and they just suck for the whole year. I cannot see anyone on this team having the heart to dig themselves out of this grave they have already dug. They won't do it to win in the playoffs because that will likely be out of reach. Pure pride and I think they just retreat to the golden toilets and give up.
yeah, true. not a whole lot of heart over there. but what do you do if you're them right now? i know people are pointing to their cap space for two years from now, but...shouldn't they think about cashing in on harden while he's still playing at an allstar level? harden for trae young--who says no? cleveland for garland? memphis for ja? trying to think of teams that might think they have a shot this year and next. to miami with bogdanovic for rozier/wiggins? i don't know. they're not in a great spot.
Yeah it seems like a sunk cost fallacy to try to be better just so OKC doesn't get better pick. I think the right way to think about this is that there is also no incentive to tank either so the best thing to do is acquire young talent in exchange for taking on dead weight salary? try to get Ellis in exchange for taking on Lavine - I think that makes the most sense. But that sort of plan doesn't work with that 2 years free of cap space plan. yeah I'm tying myself in knots - I'm still not sure why they pulled the trigger on the Powell trade - didn't make sense
No heart. Injuries. Finger pointing. No leadership. Oldest team in history of the league and age is really showing on some of them. They all have the same 5 year plan There's no easy, clean fix and that's beautiful. They're stuck between a tree and a hard place.
Don’t forget Treegate with Kawhi hanging over the franchise’s head and the other Celebrities now suing Balz’s crooked a** for fraud too. It’s soo beautiful! … except for that next high draft pick for OKC likely coming.
lawler is very much still alive and active on social media at the young age of 87 him and bill walton calling clips games together has been the only cool thing about that team in their entire existence
I’m more concerned with OKC getting a top 5 pick that the clippers being bad. I hope they can recover a bit. They need to bottom out, but that means OKC gets another cost controlled piece in an amazing draft. If I was the clippers I would trade Harden and Dunn to Houston for FVV, DFS and Eason plus a first. I then trade Zubac to whoever offers the most. Try to get two firsts and a young player. Something like Moody and Hield. Trade DJJ to us for Gabe, and a second and two swaps. Trade Leonard and Bogdanovic to the Heat for Ware, Wiggins and Herro. Gabe / CP3 Herro / Hield Wiggins / Moody Eason / DFS Ware / Collins / Lopez They probably pick up a Houston 1st, 2x GSW 1sts, a Miami 1st and maybe 2-3 seconds plus two of our swaps. That teams also good enough to win a few games by just playing hard and hopefully avoid giving OKC another piece. We get DJJ and If we could package Knecht and a 1st for Ellis. We’d be ready to go to war. Luka / Smart / Bronny Reaves / Ellis DJJ / LaRavia / Vando Lebron / Rui / Adou Ayton / Hayes / Kleber
i could see this happening, and it would make houston a real threat. i know harden's a playoff choker, historically, but he'd be a table setter here instead of the guy who determines if you live or die. this is also a fair return, imo--one good young player and salary ballast. yeah, i think you could maybe get moody and a swap, but not moody AND two firsts. makes sense, but they wouldn't help us. the only time the clips have traded with us recently was to absolutely fleece us. i actually think miami says hell no to this. i'm not sure anyone's taking leonard right now unless it's just for expirings. that team could compete with the best ones, imo. djj and ellis are exactly the parts we're missing.
