So nice to have a big that can be an asset on the boards as well as scoring

    Great pickup for the Lakers

Good comp. Same body type, good agility. Don't remember Parrish having Ayton touch but it's been awhile

^Parish had a higher arc on his shot plus he clocked Laimbeer and got away with it.

Parish also was much tougher on defense and would lay guys out who entered the paint.
I would love for Ayton to start doing this.

    It's a different era

I rewatched game 7 of the ECF between Detroit and Boston the other day. Fun watch with YouTube you can skip all the filler. The game is so different so few 3s, Parrish is hurt and Detroit doesn't t pull him into any PnRs, the defense is just trap, or double team. Somehow Boston doesn't hedge away from Rodman or Salley. Still a great game between two great teams. Bird is terrifying as an offensive player. Isiah starts cooking at the end but it's freaken hard to score in half court because they have Salley and Rodman who are like having Vando and Hayes out there. Why are these out there well:

Most amazing on the rewatch that I totally forgot about it and I'm amazed it not part of basketball lore is that Adrian Dantley looks like he literally is killed in that game. Loose ball in a game 7 him and the Microwave are going for it and Johnson's head basically spears him on the crown of his skull. He looks literally dead on the court and since this pre CTE Heinson like that sort of looks like it hurts. Dantley who was Detroit's leading scorer! get taken to the hospital and it's barely talked about. boston edges pistons by a few points. f***ing unreal it's like if that happened to an equivalent player like Siakam the conversation would have been should we have even continued playing the game it looked that bad.

Even the stupid refs endorsed that s***!!!

Ain't nobody outside of downtown Detroit who didn't love that s*** with a passion!!

Yeah, I completely understand that today’s game is way more of a finesse one than the physical style of the 80s through early 2000s.
However, there still are strong bigs who play today that will play with physicality.
I think the game has become way too soft by the rule changes that basically disallow 95% of physical defense. I wish that the pendulum would swing back to the middle, which would reduce the over abundance of blatant phantom calls we witness in today’s game. I understand “protecting the shooter,” but I think it’s become way too soft and given the refs and foul merchants way too much power.
