I didn't think he was that great last night tbh - @ZenMaster and I were on the same page. Felt the lack of a TO to help stop the ned of the 3rd quarter run made the game a lot closer then should have been. Plus after giving him props for play design the night before - he didn't really have an answer for the zone. Really felt that they should have moved Reaves off - ball to start the action and out of the top of the key where the Wolves were crushing the Lakers offense
Yes. That not taking a timeout 1:30 before the break is puzzling. They are on a run. Only makes sense to cool them off to not let any momentum to carry into the 4th.
This is a great observation and shows that the players not only are buying what JJ is selling but that they also have confidence in AR leading the team. Missing half the team, including LeBron and Luka, so what, we have Austin. The team believes they can beat anyone, anywhere and that is beyond huge. Slick on the job!
Crazy enough how quickly things can change, but something I did hear was actually somewhat confirmed today by Pablo Torre. Lue is close with Jones and Billups and loves poker. I won't speculate as a lot of guys like to gamble in the league, but my eyebrows are still raised by that story and some of the guys orbiting it.
it's pages ago, but my beef isn't with lue, in particular (though it's not not that, either...). it's primarily with his many acolytes in the press and sometimes on this forum. he's a good not great coach. that's all. he's got some weird mystique that i don't understand bc he got a rando ring for a team lebron coached. i got tired of hearing about how we supposedly bungled those negotiations and let the next phil jackson get away. he turned down our job bc we supposedly "lowballed" him--a guy who lost 18 straight games the moment lebron left cleveland--and the guy who took his offer won a ring while he streetlighted it for the jv. he knows he made the wrong choice--that he'd have another ring if he'd just swallowed his pride AND he'd have recouped the money he "lost" with our "insulting" offer. we're fine, and he's got a mouth full of sour grapes. i'm just very unimpressed squirrel with lue. good not great. not worth all the tears shed.
I love that from JJ towards Hayes But also, I cannot get over the fact that JJ nearly sabotaged thsi season by starting GABE VINCENT. He got saved from himself when Gabe got injured, and I hope to not see Gabe Vincent play a single minute for us (or if he does, he plays whatever Bronny's minutes were tonight but he's not out there during anything crucial, just spot 10-15 minutes a night)
hard to tell whether that was hayes or rui's issue, right? i tend to think hayes, as i think a clearout for jovic is probably the offensive play we'll concede.
Didn’t Jackson there just kind of drift out where AR was guarding his man and leave his cover who got the pass for the score? Rui came from his man to try and help but the guy was right at the hoop putting it up. Looked like Hayes was channeling Russ on that one.
looked to me like he was trying to discourage the drive as if that was a more fearsome iso scorer (like if ant was out there, hayes probably made the right choice). that was my point--there are situations in which what hayes did was fine and would be the plan. so was jj mad about hayes not knowing personnel or was the actual plan to stay home no matter what?
He has the guys ready. No matter who is in, who's hurt, who's starting. Everyone has been ready for their moment and he's found ways to unlock them when we need them and grind out some ugly wins. That's on the staff.
