yeah, i think the warriors say no to that, actually. guessing when they tried to trade for lebron it was with spare parts before.

    Same.

I also think Draymond likes the idea of playing with LeBron a lot more than Steph does so I can't see them offering anything good for him.

LeGroin looked like he doesn't want to be here. He's to old to go ring chasing with his contract.

on second thought, LeBron probably had a lot on his mind. I’ll give him some leeway.

I really hated his energy. Even if you can't play, you can impact the game. You're a great reader, give instructions to your colleagues, be the voice of the bench to get everyone going. That's a leader.

I can't believe he's playing some sort of twisted game this late in his career.

Maybe he's saving himself to peak later in the year. Start playing around December instead of October. Might help him convince teams to go for him as a FA. And I'm fine with that, but it does not excuse refusing to engage at all during a full game

I'm ready to move on from the Lebron era even if it means taking a step back for a bit.

If I'm being honest, I've lost my passion to even watch the team since he's been here. At this point, I'm wondering if it ever comes back. (sad cry inside)

You're still here, which means you still care about the Lakers. The Luka era should be a hell of a lot of fun to be around, I'm sure you'll find your passion again once your "favorite player" is gone. And I'm also almost sure this is his last season as a Laker. We'll see, but I could rally see him go somewhere else for a more reasonable amount to ring chase one last time and have his farewell tour as not clearly the No. 2 guy on the team.

i've thought about this a lot, and i waver on it. what you say makes sense, but the last part--there is no contender with him as the #1 guy--is the problem i think he's struggling to deal with. if we s&t him anywhere at the money he wants, that team loses talent, almost certainly (we wouldn't participate otherwise). in-season trade is the same thing--we're not going to take bad salary to do right by lebron, no matter how much we like him or feel indebted. so that leaves him with taking less money to play elsewhere (perhaps moving his family for a year, too)--only to be in the same situation (clear second, maybe even third banana). he'll also have to get that team to pay his son, of course.

to me, all this means that i think he signs one-year deal with us next summer for whatever we have left over after making FA moves/trades. he calls it a parting gift when it was really his only option. my hope is that it allows us to basically just add a keon ellis type player to our current mix and that lebron will be the 28mpg pf/backup c we need him to be!

I actually share these reservations, but I also think Bron may actually be delusional enough to believe he's still one of the few best players in the league and that other teams may just treat him that way (unlike the ungrateful Lakers). He would certainly prefer not to be "forced to" move but he may just convince himself that this is his only chance to get another chip as the top dog.

I would actually love this scenario and Bron would gain a lot of respect from me if that were to happen We shall see...

yeah, it's that last part--he knows we're unlikely to win, but he knows any other situation he could get to is going to be worse. one would hope he would just come to terms with it and go play his best and let the chips fall where they may. some of his statements leading up to camp felt that way, but maybe the injury has brought some of the downsides into sharp focus for him the way it did for me.

Thing is I think he's going to learn the hard way this summer. And good luck spinning that. Teams with cap space are not contenders. Contenders have the MLE available mostly. The only one with projected cap space is...the Clippers. And actually makes all sense. I don't even mind lol

Now that I'm writing I think it's the most likely thing to happen. Absolute CINEMA

Yeah, I mean he could just have fun playing with us. He finally has a guy that runs the show and a 2nd one emerging. He can sit back and enjoy the ride. He can feed off of both and continue to have great numbers with less effort and little carrying. Just have fun with it. He could probably play 2/3 more good years just doing that.

I doubt his ego allows him to see that

Hang in there with us Sirron, we are almost at the finish line. If he is with next season it will be in the Dudley role. We all saw how he was practicing for it against the Warriors. Up screaming and cheering for his teammates. Just needs a little practice...lol.
