Might not want the increased amount of elbows to his beak playing D down there? But agree he could be good in that role.
i think it's both less fun and less glorious. your average fan is much more impressed with stepback threes than with a good read on the short roll that leads to a wide open corner three (with a MUCH higher expected point value). on defense, it's not just the bows but the grinding on the lower body and back, i'm guessing. but again, doing it for 28-30mpg, largely against backup centers (except if we need to bench ayton to close a game)--this is totally doable, imo.
i'm hoping some of these recent deals help set a slightly lower market for reaves. giddey graded out pretty comparably to reaves last year, and is younger with probably more room to grow (his main deficiency--shooting--is something that's easier to improve than reaves's--defense). pj washington in the low 20s and giddey at 25 might mean we can keep reaves closer to 30 than 35. mikal bridges's 35 per deal had me thinking reaves was going to get that, minimum.
Totally agree. I just think he's in a very weird spot. He's worth the max based on production but he's so old that teams want to use that max $ on a younger player so they can develop them for 5-10 years down the line. It's just strange to have a player be as good as LeBron is at his age so this is the first time we're seeing a situation like this where no one knows what his true salary should be. A team willing to pay LeBron the max at this point isn't a good GM, quite frankly. That should be reserved for younger stars. If LeBron bought into a Draymond-type role where he can just focus on the post, screen and pop for open threes, and play defense, and then if Luka's on the bench, he can turn it up, this team would have 48 minutes of pure domination. It will prolong LeBron's career and who knows? Dude might end up with 7+ rings if he seriously wants to go for it.
ironically, if he played the horford/green role to the best of his ability, he becomes worth MORE money to me. he's no longer top tier as an on-ball creator, and using him this way makes him less valuable to me. add in that sliding him to center on defense for half the game allows luka to play that helper role more often instead of being asked to defend quicker ballhandlers all the time, and the value starts stacking. part of luka's defensive woes against minny were simply us asking him to do things that nobody has asked or should ask him to do, for a variety of reasons.
MLE at the most for me TBH Plus a nice watch to enjoy retirement with, etc. Maybe a party with some cake, balloons, clown, some party favors. I'd go all out.
I'm not hating...lol. Us old dudes got to look out for each other. I hope he can play five more years at an ALL NBA level and brings us many championships. I'm just offering for whenever the retirement is...lol. Edit: You done caused Slick to blow a gasket!!
I did … kind of LOL with his response to your reply to me. FOH btw If you had been smart you should have gone to the “do you know who I am” card. He had forgotten. Toklat of the Damned North!
