His athleticism does pop a bit on those shot blocks. He crosses his feet some but his first reaction is the slide, which I like. Great defensive posture and energy.
Another gem for the Lakers? So great to see these young guys get a shot with us Now if he does develop can we hang onto him?
wow, that scouting report is...extensive. and...not very favorable? anyway, one thing that is emerging is we definitely have a new type we're looking for. this is another guy (like laravia) who basically took zero midrange shots last year (if i read correctly), is a connector type on offense who can handle and pass ok, good cutter, aggressive defender/ball hawk. we're trusting we can bring his shot around (can we use new ownership money to get the very best shooting coach team in the league, plz?). i like the general theory and that we're broadly executing it. we try it enough we're bound to hit on one, right?!
Might be the most words ever typed about an undrafted guy. We were able to boost Goodwin's J. That's what kept him bouncing around. Maybe that's the proof of concept. But yes, as soon as that check clears i want multiple shooting coaches. One who specializes in each section of the floor.
Chris Manon G Height: 6-5 (196cm) Weight: 195 lbs (88kg) Born: Dec 9, 2001 (23 years old) Hometown: Milford, New Jersey https://basketball.realgm.com/player/Chris-Manon/Summary/159247
he's got legit nba sg size (basically max's size but not quite as long). he's got more defensive dawg in him than max, but nowhere near the offensive chops that even 19 year old max had. he's a project.
his self-comps being caruso and hart i like that he's realistic about the shooting--knows it's the factor that will make or break him but knows he doesn't have to become reggie miller.
This is probably attributed to his intelligence and maturity. He went to Cornell for three years, he must be a smart dude. You could tell the way he navigates screens, he is using hustle and IQ. If only one of Vando, Thierro, or Manon turn into at least a 33% three-point shooter on decent volume (5+ attempts per game), we could really have something there. Smart and Gabe are also still young enough to improve their shooting. One of these one-way defenders has to improve their shooting and hit. Manon seems to have the least awkward shot out of the three players that I mentioned.
