Names that still interest me from the above: GP2, Achiuwa, Coffee, Brogdon

Honorable mention who didn't make his cut:
    Josh Okogie

(Left off Melton and Horford, they're Warriors)

Yes but that’s not really a reflection of reality though is it cookie. All trades involve context.

Kawhi wasn’t going to sign there unless they got PG. So those 5 first round picks was to get them both (they had to pay OKC to break up the Russ and PG pairing that they felt was close to the top of the west).

As for, SGA, at the time he was a promising young player in the same way a Rui or Reaves were at a similar age. There was no way anyone could foresee him becoming an MVP. It’s the same story as Harden repeated, or Halliburton, these guys didn’t scream MVP, they jsut kept developing and developing.

You are correct but Jerry West could have tried to sell Kawhi on someone else. I’m on record saying PG was overrated and I didn’t want him. If the Clippers were this great franchise that run so well, you layout your vision for Kawhi and the players you have. Then with all those additional first round picks you can get player X who is a better player than PG. Who is mentally weak. Kawhi just wanted someone. He didn’t have any real connection to George.

Who’s our 3rd 2-Way along with Koloko and Manon now? Is it that great Euro guy’s son? (forgetting the name)

NBA haters are disgusting. Nobody wants to deal with the Lakers.

Lakers could have Michael Jordan offering him in a trade and teams would say no.

Beal was never going to be a 6th man here. And I think Smart is more needed. Perimeter defender. Guard.

Anytime you get Ayton and Smart that’s huge.

The way we worked this buyout market and pimped these GMs is huge.

traded up for Thiero. Traded for Luka when nobody else got him.

    Savage. f*** those guys.!!!!!!!

His career is effectively over. The last 4 years it has completely depended on LeBron and AD “playing together” no matter what teams they all were on or he went into his complete worst Brick mode. So weird how that worked …. :giggle:

I don’t think Dixon actually signed? Trevor mentioned that fact in one of the pod.

I think LT is thinking of Marciulionis’ son.
I actually remember him with the Dubbs:
    https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/m/marcisa01.html
    He’s on an Exhibit 10:

“NEWS: Saint Mary's PG Augustas Marčiulionis will agree to an Exhibit 10 deal with the LA Lakers, a source told ESPN. The two-time WCC player of the year missed the pre-draft process with a foot injury but will be healthy in late July. Son of hall of famer Šarūnas Marčiulionis.“

Is Sharunas Marciulionis son should be good enough to replace Goodwin ?
Augustas has also won consecutive West Coast Conference Player of the Year Awards during his college career at Saint Mary's College.

I remember Sharunas from Lithuanian national team and USSR championship
I don't follow college and have no idea is it good program, but if he's close to his dad by talent ,like Sabonis to Arvudas it's gold signing

He seems like a more natural PG who’s good in the PnR. I have no idea how well he can play D.
He did play all four years at St. Mary’s so he is more mature.

4 years later and you are still talking about Westbrook ?

Seriously though, Russ gotta get this situation taken care of before he signs anywhere IMO. That s*** looks ugly.

I remember reading when we picked him up and someone else asked about his D and the answer was it was one of his strongest areas in college.

I’m with you, I wrote a whole set of posts saying I believe PG was a pseudo star. He has one good game, one average game and one bad game per every 3. But that year, he just came off an All Defensive season, shot the lights out and he got MVP voting. So I get OKC asking for the world because it also meant they’d have to trade their franchise cornerstone in Russ away.

But I get the whole Clippers team construction. On paper they looked very good:

    Beverley / Reggie Jackson
    George / Lou Will
    Kawhi / Harkless
    Morris / Patterson / Green
    Zubac / Harrell

They basically had a platoon of SF/PFs when they were the most important position in the NBA. If they ever got healthy, they would have been a problem. They never got healthy and we got our ring.

But I can’t fault them in hindsight for getting PG and being aggressive. The whole NBA thought they had built another juggernaut.
