If I were the Lakers, I'd be open to keeping him. Gives them more optionality during the season and could be critical if there's any injuries.

Yeah if we can’t send him for an athletic wing, just keep him maybe

i don't think we have a burning need to move him. he can fill in for injured front line guys until we find an opportunity.

i think a lot depends on what comes up in the market. if there isn't a young impact player that fits a needs, i think we'll prioritize flexibility next summer and mostly stand pat this year. but as it stands, we have some assets should such a thing occur.

I’ve said elsewhere that the biggest issue with this team is we have so much unproductive salary that can’t be played during the playoffs:

    Shake: 3m
    Knecht: 4m
    Gabe: 11.5m
    Kleber: 11m
    Vando: 11.5m

That’s 40m that can go into rotation worthy guys. Imagine if we had 2 two way players at 15-20m instead. We’re a completely different team.

    So I'm all for trades.

I'd leave Knecht out but yeah, ideally, trading at least two of: Gabe, Maxi, or Vando for a competent player is ideal.

I don't think you're going to get much out of those two.

You have to give some value to make a trade, otherwise it's junk for junk - and whats the point?

true, but i'm fine starting the season basically like we are and waiting to see how things play out. who gets injured (hopefully not us, but you never know), who becomes unexpectedly available for our dead weight.

we definitely have a 10-man rotation that can get 50 wins as it is, imo.

Yeah and there's a massive difference between reg season and playoffs. Vando for example is great in the regular, he always brings so much energy which is so needed through 82 games and road trips. But in the playoffs, every team plans for you and seeks to pound on your weaknesses, making it harder for Vando to be effective with such a bad offensive package.

The current roster is absolutely fine for the regular and I have us at top4.
Then we are still not there to be in the best position to win in the POs against the top teams, but if we can only get that upgrade next summer, I'm ok to wait and roll the dice this year.
We have a long window with Luka, I want him to win multiple rings with us and that's my priority

Same for me. I’m happy with the moves Rob made to get us a starting center and LaRavia while retaining all of our assets. I feel like the pressure is off and we can roll with what we have. If a great opportunity comes up before the deadline, awesome. But no need to force an issue now or take on a bad trade.

Absolutely. I’m thrilled with the new owners as well. As a Dodgers fan I’ve been very spoiled by this guy and can’t wait to see what they can do for the Lakers. In Mark Walter and Guggenheim group I trust!

    This

Seems like we are more in control and can be more selective
