Irwin actually proposed an interesting idea. Ship Rui out for a center but keep Dalton and the picks. Maybe you use those in a separate deal maybe you don't. My only question would be are you going to have DFS or Dalton in the starting lineup guarding 3s on a nightly basis? DFS and Lebron are built to guard the 4 position at this point in their careers.

Possible, but a little more difficult. I looked into this in the past, and couldn't find many realistic options for this. I believe Brooklyn has established already that they want draft capital and expiring's. Basically, you have to find a third team that values Rui over other expiring's that they have on their team. Then said third-team needs to be willing to send draft capital for him. Ideally, Rui would return a top 13 protected first-round pick, but more realistically maybe three seconds, which Brooklyn might prefer anyway. Judging by the Dlo trade, BRK would prefer expiring's + multiple seconds over players with more years + a protected first. So, looking at the expiring's out there that have a perceived lesser value than Rui, there are not a lot of options. And most of them are on other rebuilding teams. Virtually all the teams with large expiring's are in rebuild mode themselves. I mean, you could send Rui to Orlando I guess for Isaac, who has two guaranteed years left on his contract + a lottery protected first? So players with an extra season + a protected first would be the next best option. Orlando does need help with their shooting. So, this could be a decent option, I guess. Even though they already have Banchero at the 4. Orlando has two firsts in this draft, so maybe Brooklyn ads another low-first? Orlando also gets some salary relief, but at the cost of a pick? So, it's possible, but I can't really make a strong case for it. Orlando maybe low-key still prefers Rui as an expiring deal vs. Rui the player. But, if they are willing to include the first then that's up to them. Brandon Clarke and Okoro could be other options, I guess. Base of the deal could look as follows:

    LAL: Claxton + #25
    BKN: Issaac + Kleiber + 2031 Lakers 1st (unprotected) + 2nds from Orlando
    ORL: Hachimura

Lakers end up keeping Knecht under this scenario. Brooklyn ends up just keeping their picks.

I think this was specifically in reference to Claxton. If it's going to be Claxton, I'd prefer it be Dalton + expirings + swap(s) or 2nds. Dalton + the 2031 1st is just too much for Claxton. That would allow us to package Rui or DFS with the 2031 first and any remaining swaps/2nds to find a quicker wing that can defend on the perimeter (looking at you, Herb Jones).

Yes, correct. Went back and listened and he specifically mentions claxton. Luka, AR, Herb, Bron, and Claxton is not a bad summer though. Probably lacking some shooting...

Yeah having a third team jumping in makes it tough for a Rui trade. It would pretty much have to be Orlando, Houston, San Antonio, or Minnesota I think.

Stephen A. Smith getting on Luka not leading the team because his lack of conditioning. This guy is a joke. Luka’s fine his game is old man. He can do what he wants.

I think this Kevin Durant stuff is going to take off. I think he goes to Minnesota.

and I think by Default Mcdaniels becomes available and Reed.

Do we make a play for Naz Reid or get Donte Divanchenzo just saying interesting bench pieces.

Naz would start for us. What do yall think him as a starter?

As for Knect you can’t put enough premium on shooting as we are seeing in the finals with Indiana. If we get rid of Knect. Does he become another Aron Naesmith?

This is the off season timeframe of “nobody knows anything but like to speculate and act like they do”.

i don't think we can afford mcdaniels--he has to be up near bridges in terms of trade value, right?

iffy. i could see it working, but i could also see him not looking as great against top line guys for the bulk of his minutes. i'd like to be able to try it out, but i also don't see a path to him. he's not going to opt into that deal, imo.

interestingly, i'd argue that the pacers are a study in finding guys who can defend and counting on them to become respectable shooters. mcconnell, toppin, and nesmith were both noted as poor shooters early in their careers, iirc. nembhard shot sub-30 (!) from three this year. sheppard and mathurin are also low percentage shooters, relatively speaking. but all of them have bought in on defense and the offensive system.

haliburton, siakam, and (to a lesser extent) turner all can shoot it.

if anything, it strengthens my hope that we are looking for athletic defenders at every spot, as we have three guys who can be offensive hubs and make shots in luka, lebron, and reaves, just like indy.

Gotta love the weather there this time of year  ;)

Recent Texas storm damage footage YouTube

Of course MN has its share of winter problems. Then again Phoenix and frying eggs on the sidewalk stuff in the summer .... yikes!! All we got here is the occasional shakers few and far between, and pick where you live to not be in fire zones. Trying to help you out here Kevin. You certainly don't want to play for the JV squad in Inglewood, and Lakers are strapped for cash .... but damn look how much money you already have. I think you ought to take the TPMLE with the Lakers. Win win.

Buha is a hack, you can get most of his "insider" information, from right here on this board. A quick Google search will fill in the rest.

    Durant to Houston makes sense.

what does Phoenix want Amen Thompson. Which they won’t get.

What they will get Reed Sheppard Jabari Smith and a 1st round pick.

San Antonio what Suns will get Keldon Johnson number 14 pick And Devon Vassell

What Phoenix wants Stephen Castle number 2 pick Which they won’t get.

Phoenix doesn’t owe Kevin Durant anything. They have to make the best deal for them.

Minnesota can probably trade Julius Randle is a he a free agent?

    Jalen Mcdaniels.

Phoenix will ask for this. I don’t think they’ll get it. They’ll want to make sure he’s in the deal. Durant is 37 though.

    that’s the scorer Edwards needs.

What Phoenix will get Rob Dillingham and Donte Divenchenzo.

Minnesota traded all their picks for Gobert.

I think Minnesota offers the best deal if they can trade Jalen Mcdaniels.
