It was always heading in this direction after they made the finals. Happy for Myles to finally be in a winning situation with a long term deal. The Laker Turner dream is finally dead. We missed the boat putting him next to AD anyways.

One thing that's annoying me watching the finals is how often SGA pushes off his defender to generate space, it's constant. Why does the NBA just allow certain players to get away with things that no-one else can.

i can see this. people forgot sampson because of the injuries, but he was pretty wemby-esque in terms of the combination of length and talent according to my dad (i was too young to confirm much here).

i don't think it was ever as alive as everyone swears. i mean, every time the rubber hit the road, indy re-upped him. the only time i think he was truly available was when sabonis was still there, and even then, you'd have had to blow them away.

i'd also say that both he and haliburton would have a very hard time as lakers. turner has had 5 or fewer rebounds in 2/3 of their playoff games and hit double digits once the entire run. if he were here, crucified. same with hali throwing up triple singles here and there. luka can't score under 30 without being targeted in the press (his career playoff averages are 31/9/8, and he's a fall guy around here with some already lol).

yeah, i was ranting about this last week. it's just super obvious that NOBODY else is going to be allowed to do that, imo. it's the reason he's an mvp candidate instead of a standard allstar, imo, just like harden's b******* was the reason he was. both very good players on real merits who got flabbergasting assists from the refs in a coordinated effort.

Yeah Ralph was ahead of his time. He wanted to be a 7'4 PG! He had a nice handle for a guy his size.
True story..I saw Ralph at the Fonde Rec Center in Houston, one summer back in the day, knock down about 20 straight top of the key 3's. He was draining them with ease, like Tinkerbell, with a flick of the wrist. Too tall, and too skinny for that athletic type of style, that he wanted to play though.

This is why I have my doubts about Wemby lasting a long time, in the League at an elite level. Injuries are a huge concern.

I remember when Sampson was the next great thing. He was super talented and did take out the Lakers (Magic / Kareem / etc.) one year in the 2nd round I think with a shot that bounced in at the end of the close out game. But, yeah injuries...

I'm really glad to see Wemby doing some unorthodox stuff for his body. Apparently he is doing a ten day Shaolin temple training right now. Reminds me of Kareem doing yoga and taking lessons from Bruce Lee back in the day. I hope Wemby can stay healthy, but I would not bet on it.

Damn so Garland is out 4-5 months with toe surgery. Seems very unlikely they trade him now. I feel like they probably just run it back with their same core.

    Slopez is available
But he's 37 and washed as Valanchunas, Vucevic etc ..
So Lakers will choose a Chinese new big toy and will suck for a few more years

Kncecht + 2031 pick + swap + take the protections off of the 2027 pick we already traded them. I'd even make it two swaps.

What's funny is i saw a report from elsewhere that there's a belief they might have to give up draft capital to unload Porzingis. Maybe they're looking for what they get in a Holiday deal to offset that... or find a large enough expiring to take both and the pick side is a wash.

Elsewhere the Knicks aren't Kidding about their interest in the currently unavailable HC

i don't get this--zinger's an expiring. much like us with russ, unless you're getting decent talent back (we did), there's no need to attach picks. or unless you're trying to get someone to eat the whole deal. which could only be bkn, right? to punt most of their space on eating zinger is a tough sell, for sure.

but holiday has three years left on that deal and is already showing wear. maybe they're accepting that they're going to get bad money back, hence the ask for the first?

or i guess as you're saying, they're going to pay to get off zinger and are thus not worried about the salary coming back in a holiday trade.

dallas should try to get a pick out of it or something. but they should totally let kidd go, imo. i still don't think he's that great of a coach, and if he's eyeing ny, best to just let him deal with that. send nico out, then trade AD and start over with flagg as the centerpiece. trade kyrie and klay for whatever young players or picks someone will give you. they own their 2026 pick and can afford to be bad in a very competitive conference next year.[/QUOTE]
