I hear Joe Johnson still can't get resevations in Atlanta due to nobody knowing who he is.

I mean if Luka didn't get sick this series is 2-2. Lebron looks healthier now. Lot of of bad luck but the Lakers don't have a large margin of error compared to teams like Boston and the Cavs as they don't have any depth

Agreed. Definitely need more shooters and rim runners. Not much chemistry right now either.

All you need to know about the depth is that 5 guys played the entire 2nd half. JJ doesn't trust most of those guys. Even with that, if Luka doesn't get sick it's a tied series.

Meh...1-7 in the 4th quarter, is still 1-7 period. You gotta bring more than that, if you want to win on the road against a good team.

Luka's still out of shape, at the end of April? I'm not so sure, if that's really the case, or if this is just Luka.

On a more positive note, yeah, if we gave him some more lob threats, and a better secondary ball handler, he would have more energy in the 2nd halves. Absolutely

After a summer in of cold ones in the sun and huka rips, he’ll be ready to dominate.
It’s actually wild that this isn’t as sarcastic, as you think it is.
Most of us can agree that this roster isn’t what Luka needs in order for his team to be great.

he's great. the fanbase just needs to be grateful he's here and embrace him. he may or may not bring rings (i think there's a good chance), but he'll bring high quality play and minimal drama/negativity.

still shocked he's here this soon.

Agree with this here, Slick. Irwin tweeting "Edwards has been outplaying Luka this series," while I don't see anything wrong with what he said, the reality is we just got Luka without an offseason to build around him.

While I acknowledge Edwards is an outstanding talent and his ascension top 10 player has been fantastic to watch, Luka has been a top 10 player (arguably) since he entered into the league; I think if we give Rob a fair shot to retool around Luka this summer & JJ a summer to scheme around a tailored roster around Luka, we'll see far different results, IMO.

garbage, but expect a lot more of it after we lose this series.

also, acting like it's purely luka's defense--while hand waving at our lack of interior defense--is rich, man.

also, it took the nuggets a while to figure out how to best use jokic defensively (they have to protect him in many ways, both roster and strategy-wise). we've barely had a chance to even think about it here.

i'm really not sure why the press gets to act like we became title favorites instantly after the trade. yeah, i thought we'd beat minny, but i thought the conference finals was probably the ceiling this year, anyway.

if we're another first round exit next year, maybe i start asking tougher questions, but not now.

When can we theoretically and/or technically offer (verbal or written) an extension to him?

I respect the way Luka played through pain and kept us in the game in the 2nd half. I like the trade we made for the future of this franchise.

But I will not give Luka a pass in this series. The Timberwolves gameplan tonight was to attack whoever Luka was guarding. They especially did this any time the game got close and they needed a guaranteed bucket. Luka got blown by guarding Edwards and Randle so many times, it was painful and embarrassing to watch. I appreciate him coming back and scoring for us, while injured, when no one else was. That was some Mamba mentality stuff, but we were never going to outscore this Timberwolves team. Being this much of a defensive liability in the playoffs is not something to wipe away and forgive because he's Luka. It's a problem, especially if he's supposed to be the leader of this team. The worst part was at the end of the game - down 4, 2:00 minutes left - Luka blows a gimme layup, thinks he got fouled (he didn't) and instead of running back on defense, stops to complain to the refs. This is a fricking elimination game dude, wtf are you doing? Run the hell back and stop the timberwolves so you can win this game. The timberwolves go up 6 and that's the series. I'm sorry, I can't forgive that. That's not legendary stuff and not Laker pedigree.

I'm going to hold final judgement until he gets a full season but he better come back to camp in better shape. And he better make defense more of a priority.

Unfortunately, they will probably commit to Luka before he can show us he cares about the game and his conditioning. He also need to grow up and stop whining about every calls

Luka is a prodigy, an offensive machine, you can't stop this kid, he also sells tickets.

You can work around his defensive deficiencies, probably by not surrounding him, with other defensive deficiencies.

It's a fine line with that idea though, you are always going to need other guys, that can get buckets too.
