well, three of them. i've questioned whether green is as good as some suggest, but this isn't a jamal magloire situation.
Green was worth an All Star spot arguably in '15 (which he was not a member of) and certainly worth a spot in '16 when GSW hung the 73-9 on the league. His role pre-KD was larger and to me that was his best candidacy as an all star. Looking back at the 73-9 season and adding the regular season and playoffs; GSW were basically playing big, competitive games for something stupid like 120 games straight. They won most of them, and Green was in the mix for most of those. Iguodala was a more significant player during this time too. I've always admired KD as a player, but I never thought playing alongside Green was ideal. When KD came to town, he'd get a lot of isolation during crunch time. Green's fill-the-gaps approach to the game got scaled back. His durability became and issue and his shooting fell off a cliff last year and in '18, which is why I get why people don't think he's very good lately. There was a 2-2.5 year stretch before KD where Green was an elite level passer, rebounder and defender, so much that he would be facilitating the offense in the death lineup and teams wouldn't have an answer. Iggy was filling in the gaps as well. They were perfect alongside Steph and Klay.
i'm guilty of turning this into a semantics issue on the allstar front, when the real contention was whether GS still had several high quality players, and that answer is certainly yes, imo. would green be great as your best player? oh no. can he be a first or even second option offensively? definitely not. but he anchors great defenses and facilitates great offenses consistently. if you already have scoring options--which one could argue are easier to come by--he'd be at the top of your wishlist for additions.
Agree and that was my original point, it’s not like their team is Green and some scrubs now. Anyway, this thread should be fabulous this year.
Yeah and now losing more reps from kicking Brooklyn's butt in China those 2 games likely lost. Who knows she could hurt herself while shaking off the rust once the season starts.
To me Green made the All-Star games off of what GS was doing as a team. Would he have made it if he wasn’t with that group? IMO hell no. He was the Ben Wallace of that super team, incredibly valuable, but to me not individually an all-star based on skill set and actual play alone, it’s that he was a key part of something great like Wallace was with those Pistons.
When Atlanta were best team in the East They had 4 All -stars in 2015 Al Horford, Paul Millsap, Teague and Korver Who is All Star here ? Same with Green.
they're all the anti-draymond. so it's just what you value. you could say: move draymond to minny, and they'll be s***ty. well, minny is s***ty with towns, and nobody seems to care if he's an allstar.
