Yeah, I'm not a believer at all with Houston being an option. They would have to gut the roster and heavily rely on Harden, LaBron, CP3 to make it work seeing how other than Capela (who probably gets moved to make that 3 work cap wise), Houston has no youth (and no 2018 draft pick) to shore up the bench and help increase the longevity of LaBron and CP3's careers. Meanwhile our youth would help LaBron prolong his playing days.

They struck out on Melo and with a majority of the teams struggling with the 1.9% in cap this summer, the cap maneuvering will be as restricting as it can get for Morey.

Lastly CP3 had 17M in cap space to walk into in order to threaten the Clips to trade him to Houston. Houston has no such cap space this coming summer for LaBron to threaten Gilbert with into a trade. And even if he did, would Gilbert relent? Doubt it. Gilbert is actively trying to move all Klutch agency athletes by offering JR and TT along with the Cavs 1st round pick in all trade talks. Bron ain't going to get any support from Gilbert if he needs a trade to Houston. And I'm sure Bron has way too much pride to go to Gilbert to ask for assistance in any way.

Losing Clarkson much as I like him and know he will get even better in years ahead for LeBron to come here wouldn't have me feeling more like this for watching Julius's coming years and then his prime beast years to come after those.... in another uniform.

 

Speaking of fouls or rather his relative lack often of foul trouble that was an unfair rap on him too why he couldn't be a starter or play that quantity of minutes.

 

i read it; it basically says what i've said: lebron can get to houston pretty easily if he opts in. the author's only rebuttals are:

a) cleveland fans would be upset with the return (?--i think, i didn't quite follow the logic there).
b) the rockets owner won't pay.

for a): we've seen worse. and the author admits that gordon's not a negative trade commodity and is in fact probably the opposite. throw enough picks in, and it could happen.

for b): we can't know that. we also can't know how big of a discount paul might give to get lebron in uniform.



so, i appreciate the breakdown, and i was already dubious of the first two scenarios, but nothing i read there gives me the same confidence that the author has regarding the likelihood of the opt-in and trade.

eh, here's where magic and rob screwed up again: would you rather trade him to houston or watch him walk to the lakers, who have been (quite obviously) trying to set the stage for his arrival for over a year? the same lakers that irked you so much that you got the league to block the chris paul deal? those lakers? don't underestimate gilbert's pettiness. pritchard can hold his beer.

they can re-route gordon for a 2nd rounder or two, demand that houston's picks be further into the future and with very little protection (like the lakers deal for nash, which we're still paying for).

i think they can get under the lux tax, and being under the cap doesn't matter if you're cleveland: nobody wants to play there. besides, everyone ignores that they can also easily unload love's salary on one of the have-nots with cap space this summer (possibly the lakers).

people just aren't being creative enough with this. if lebron wants to go to houston, he can make it happen pretty easily, imo.
