    I'd consider Hayward for the 3rd pick, but no way for a top 2. We'll see what happens after workouts (assuming we retain the pick), but there's nobody after Simmons and Ingram that I'm truly sold on. If we throw in a piece such as Lou I strongly consider it, but I don't think I pull the trigger on 3rd pick + Clarkson for Gordon

    Hayward's salary for the next 2 years.

    I don't think the Lakers are going to waiting 3 years for Simmons or Ingram to develop, IMO. It's not like you'd just be adding Hayward. You've have room to add another max player and another max the year after; at the very least, he'd be your 3rd option if things went according to plan. Although, if he's not working out, you can move him down the line and probably very easily.

    So what if Simmons turns out to be the next LBJ? Or Ingram the next KD? We would look foolish trading that for Hayward. Top 3 pick at most is what I would do.

    I agree, Simmons/Ingram for Hayward is not a good deal. If Clarkson improves his defense, he's every bit as good as Hayward, perhaps even better.

    LBJ and KD are transcendent talents. I'm sure if either of them have a Kobe like workout pre-draft, we'll keep the pick. However, given the fact, that it's very rare that players who are drafted turn into Lebron or Kevin Durant; although I think Simmons and Ingram will be very good players, but it will take time, and I'd rather take the ready now talent.

    The Cavs traded Wiggins for Love (who was regarded as a much better player than Hayward at the time) and I honestly think they regret it.

    Trading a #1 pick is not a good idea.

    Neither of them even have to turn out that good. Hayward is at best a third tier star. You have your mega stars like LBJ, Steph, Durant, Westbrook, CP3, Kawhi level. Then you have your Griffin, Lillard, Harden, Klay, Butler, PG13, Draymond level. You might make an argument Hayward is in the next level, but even then, he'd be at the very bottom of that 3rd tier behind guys like Melo, DeAndre, Lowry, etc. He's just not a guy I'd be willing to spend max money on. If he's a max player on your team, you'd need like Durant and Westbrook filling up your other max slots.

    If we trade the pick I at least wanna get an All Star in return. Yes I agree the Lakers probably don't wanna keep it, but they just won't give it away for anyone. If the Bulls don't wanna trade Butler I'm keeping it. Indiana isn't trading George and I don't want a guy like Cousins under any circumstances.

    Seems like I'm the only one with you. I find it strange that people are so dismissive of this trade when they supported a Love trade or we're still talking about Cousins. He's only 26 years old and has improved markedly every year he's been in the league. Last season:

    19.7 points, 5 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 1.2 steals in 36 minutes a game. He's a decent shooter (about 35%) and would help tremendously taking the pressure off of our younger guys. He took a little too many jumpers last year, but in an offense like Golden State runs I think he could be an All-Star player.

    I like Ingram a ton. I think he's going to have a good career in the NBA, but I don't know how long it'll take for him to get there. People saying "well what if that player is the next Michael Jordan" or whatever it may be is a moot point. If Ingram is the next great thing, we'll draft him and never look back. The only thing we've done consistently well is draft the last few years. Barring the unlikely event of Ingram or Simmons or Hield (I guess) being the next great thing, I'd make the trade for Hayward. He might not be an All-Star, but if anything that strengthens our bargaining power. We may even be able to get something like Hayward/Burks for Top 3/fillers if they want to dump some more cash in the deal.

    That's all I'm saying, man. Think of it this way as well. In the short-term, you get a guy on your roster that is a proven scorer, can alleviate the pressure of the young core by drawing extra defenders, shifting the defense, and allowing Clarkson, Russell, and Randle to thrive. If he opts out of his deal, you can re-sign him. He has a player option. Check this out, though: If PG decides he doesn't want to be in Indiana, and you want to make a run at him next year or 2018, you can center a package around Hayward plus picks, without giving up all of your youth; plus, it's easier to match salaries.

    I think the Kings will let Cousin go for a chance to get Simmons or Ingram. If we get the No. 1 pick, Kings can be trading partners. Cuz is just toxic to them right now but maybe if he gets traded to his favorite team, just maybe he turns a corner.

    I really like Gordon Hayward. But I don't trade a top 1 or 2 pick for him. Number 3? Sure.

    I feel the #1-2 pick is being seriously undervalued lately. The chances of hitting the jackpot are way too high. I see zero bust potential with Simmons. Perhaps a little with Ingram but the worst-case scenario is Tayshaun Prince and the ceiling is Durant.

    Hayward is a nice player, but potentially getting a franchise player and trading him for Hayward. I just don't agree with that. I don't think free agents will think oh man I would love to play with Gordon Hayward.

    Agreed. With a pick that high and considering Hayward has never made an All-Star team or lead the Jazz to the playoffs I think we could get a nice return. I think we could get Hayward/Burks in a dump for the pick/maybe a sign and trade Clarkson or Tarik/maybe include the #32 in there. Burks has had a rough time since signing that big extension, this lets them get out from under that contract. They've still got Exum, Hood, Gobert, and maybe they can get another solid return for Favors.

    Meanwhile we get Hayward/Burks for only about 26 million which is roughly one max slot.

    Russell/Clarkson
    Burks/Williams
    Hayward/
    Randle/Nance Jr.
    ____/____

    Which would total roughly 43.85 million. That'd leave us with nearly 50 million still to spend. We could go get Horford or Noah or whomever and end up with a truly competitive team. That team might look great to George if he decides he doesn't want to stick around in the mud with Indiana and like you said turn Hayward + a future pick into George. I think people are getting a little too attached to the pick honestly.
