can't defend worth a lick - hopefully they give Bufkin as much as a shot as Kennard going forward

having a dead eye shooter along with several creators on the court makes it tougher to double team. In theory, this is a solid low key move, and now JJ has no choice but to develop some youngins a bit. win win.

If Bufkin can shoot 49% from 3 I’m sure they would.

Edit - Tbf if he can carry over his 50/40/90 back in the league then it’s a no brainer.

Thank goodness Gabe is finally gone. What a total waste of roster space he was and then JJ’s love for him was totally frustrating. Good move just for jettisoning him.

Luke Kennard should be a really good bench addition and target for Luka Lebron and AR. Feed the shooter! For the lowest scoring bench in the league this a shot in the arm that should help a lot. It’s been tough to watch us brick so much on open looks. I’m all for this trade. Nice job Rob.

Main downside here to me is that I don't know that we will even try to keep Kennard. That puts us back in a situation like DFS where we use a pick (or picks) to get a guy we don't keep and not replacing the pick with any additional moves. I don't mind this move (and I actually liked the DFS trade and get not resigning him), but when we think about our asset cupboard being bare, these kinds of moves along with big whiffs on a couple of draft picks are part of the reason why.

Feels like you gave up a second who you can't trust to play in the playoffs because he can only play one side fo the ball. Mirror of Vando

Right. I feel like JJ won't play him much come playoff time but we will see. He's definitely got to be scoring in order to be on the floor.

I think it's the right balance of getting better in the short term while not mortgaging the big assets. Kennard is way better than Gabe. He's literally the best shooter in the league right now. That makes the current team better at the small cost of a 2nd.

We're not getting the wing we want with 2nds. We need firsts for that. 2nds are for this, improvements in your bench rotation guys.
If he works out, great, you get an elite shooter in your rotation. If it doesn't, it's a bummer but you tried to give this group with Bron a better shot

I definitely don't disagree with this.

But the fanbase will need to keep this in mind when we are trying to make moves over the summer and next season.

    Not worried about the second.

    very worried about the defense.

    glad no Gabe.

Think the extra million we got under the apron will help on the buyout market.

Solves two great things here: sent Gabe 2,176 miles away. Buries DK so far down, he needs an oxygen tank.

Luke is a professional shooter. Teams respect him more than Gabe too. Bench unit with Rui in one corner and Luke in the other will be great for spacing.

We're getting the gang back together again

I think his shooting will help. He’s going to get a lot of looks.

The dude is shooting almost 50% from 3 for the season, genuinely curious to see if the Lakers curse will strike here.
