Fighting the herd mentality to what? Convince as many as possible to feel as negatively about the moves this summer as you do, in advance of the games being played and actually seeing what happens?

i find the echo chamber assertions odd, as i'm constantly arguing with people here, lol.

in this most recent back and forth, i just pointed out that we didn't pay mamu and grimes starter money, and that had we consolidated their money, a) there was not a guarantee we could have gotten a starter, and b) we'd still have had a hole in the starting lineup.

none of this is bias, homerism, etc. and i didn't comment on vince specifically until they implied they were using logic and others weren't.

My opinion on this matter is all that abeer and wallagong posted. Love your fandom and lack of common sense.

Wait until Vince reads a Toklat post, he'll lose it.

You don’t need to leave. I for one like that we have differing opinions. I share some of your sentiments on not being clear on how good Reaves is, and that our offseason had issues.

Keep posting and don’t let the feeling of multiple people disagreeing with you feel like a gang up. If we’re all thinking the same way, no one’s doing any thinking at all.

Agreed, sometimes all the crying and moaning about how we are going to suck is good entertainment. It carries me over until the games start and the Dame of Doom is once again unleashed!! Also fun to watch the Gloomers scramble to get on the Laker Express as it is picking up speed and act like they new it all the time...lol. The Cam Carr will have extra seats.

    I am calling my shot.

Pelinka will be replaced by Chris Paul within a year from now.

i could see it. and i think chris paul is a sharp guy, but i'd hope he brings some experienced front office wonks with him. this isn't a job you can just jump right into.

I agree, it makes a lot of sense. CP3 is already besties with Bob Iger and honestly, it probably wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world.

Paul has as high of a basketball IQ as anyone, is highly competitive, and has a bit of a resume that can be appealing because he used to be the president of the NBA players union.

As long as he has a salary cap guy, an analytics guy and ironically, it would be beneficial to have an assistant GM who used to be a player agent and has experience negotiating player contracts. I would want someone on staff who is a shrewd negotiator and can help with signing players at contract terms/lengths that are favorable to the team. The irony to this is that Pelinka should be able to fill this role but for whatever reason, he has had a consistent track record of signing players to bad contracts that end up haunting the team for years. It’s a combination of prioritizing the wrong players to sign in free agency on unmovable contracts if they don’t play up to the value of that contract.

In today’s second apron environment, if you can have as much players as possible who produce on the court more than what you pay them, that’s how you end up with a really deep team.

The opposite happens if you sign players who can’t perform to the value you sign them for, and this is what has happened with the Lakers over the past several years (Gabe Vincent, Kendrick Nunn, Montrezz Harrell, Talen Horton Tucker, Jarred Vanderbilt). When you end up signing players to long term contracts at mid level exception level money but they provide vet minimum production, it ends up handicapping your roster construction. These players end up taking up a chunk of your salary cap while adding negative value, they take up a roster spot which causes issues if there’s a buy out candidate or free agent you want to sign but can’t because you don’t have the open roster spots, and if you want to try to move them, you have to wait until the final year of their contract while also attaching draft picks to be able to dump them.

It’s a terrible formula for roster construction. We need someone in the front office who ends up being seeing as a shark that tries to win every contract negotiation with terms favorable to the team.

Am assuming you are including this off season, the first with our FO clear of LeBron's super max salary and with very specific goals in mind for who they wanted to target and land in free agency. We can't know the monetary details in all these talks behind closed doors. But Rob hit a low screamer out dead center IMO with prioritizing and getting the "correct" types of players and specific players signed whom they wanted going forward next 3-4 years. In fact he ticked off a bunch of the exact names we have been wanting here multiple years now. Sure he could miss on the value of a couple of the salaries, if say injuries but health guarantees aren't a thing, But for the specific pieces and talents Redick and Luka and Rob wanted ..... with tons of versatility built into the roster with them all ..... they GOT their guys, minus the wait on final roster changes and new PF or not to start the season. We have decent to good and getting better options in house to man the minutes there in the meantime.

I agree with a lot of your takes and we need that on the board. There are people on here who will attack you if you go against prevailing opinion.

Regardless the off-season has left me underwhelmed and I don't know how much basketball I'll watch next season with this pending sale.

Screaming A finally has a butt to kiss again, and he probably enjoyed kissing that butt the last time.

As it I needed more reasons to despise him.

I actually don’t think he’s a bad guy to have in a front office role. Experienced as a player and union guy.

plus he’s still upset with the Clips over how things ended so that won’t be an issue. Should motivate him.

Prefer we get an experienced guy if we are moving on from Rob but yeah. Not mad at the thought of cp3 in the front office.

I have been getting the worst takes from Youtube bloggers. Most of them are AI and just spewing horse****. I have been pressing the don't recommend channel button more and more often. I simply hate stupid takes from AI click bait channels.
