We will wish for return of the Rambii. Kurt may be a moron, but noone ever questioned his Lakershood.

Few hours ago, this was an impossible scenario. Now, not so much :(

Eh, don’t like the continuous shake up but I’ll see how things play out before passing judgement.

Never really bought the “Dodger-ification” of the Lakers, that having Walters as the owner inherently meant our basketball operations would be significantly better. I don’t think we really saw that come to fruition, so I’m not hung up on that hypothetical wish. Whether Walters didn’t have time to implement those things, whether the structure of a basketball FO and the rules they’re confined by just make it a different game than baseball, whether he didn’t care enough to do those investments and just was using the franchise as a flip, or whether he’s screwed legally and had no choice… it just doesn’t matter to me at this point.

Obviously the optics aren’t great going from Walters to the new group, but say hypothetically Walters never got involved and Jeannie had sold directly to Kushner/Iger… I’d probably have still seen that as good news simply due to having more financial resources.

To an extent, I just have to assume that anyone investing this much into the Lakers HAS to know that the legacy of winning is the cornerstone of the franchise value. If they want their asset to appreciate (and one could argue they may be more incentivized than Walters since they don’t have his same level of wealth) they have to know the importance of continuing to invest into winning.

Will they know the pathway to structure the basketball ops in a way that leads to winning? That remains to be seen. But I also don’t think Iger’s Disney resume is something that we can read too much into in terms of how what he did at Disney might translate to being involved in basketball ownership.

Overall I’m most curious to whether there will be any imminent changes to the structure of our basketball ops, Jeanie and Pelinka’s involvement going forward, and for now how this might influence Pelinka’s willingness to trade future assets to help bring in a starting caliber wing.

Iger is a big sports fan and loves hoops so there's that. Could be a good thing. Could be a bad thing. Just no way to know one way or another at this point.

I agree that I was let down that we didn't make more immediate changes to our basketball operations, especially with this summer being so important.

This is all a bit surreal to me right now, so I don't have any heavy negative or positive thoughts on the new guys just yet.

if iger/kushner hire competent people to run the show, stay out of the way, and pay up when they need to, we'll be fine

can't say i have much faith though

I don’t know who this Kushner guy is but we already saw Iger disintegrate the Star Wars Franchise.

Both these schlepers didn’t even have enough money to do this deal. They got someone else to back it up. We don’t know who yet. That’s what I’m waiting on. The real owners are those who fronted this purchase.

Must have great funding, but dang, Igor is worth 700 million and Kushner is worth 5.2 billion. By NBA owner standards, these guys are poor. Hell, Lebron is worth more than Igor. So is Magic. Heck the Buss family is worth more than Igor. WTF!!! 5.2 billion is not much of a cushion, he certainly cannot afford to lose 100 million here and there, which you do in the NBA these days. The whole scenario worries me.

    I HATE this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Disney is an evil empire. Having one of their former overlords as ours now is just gross.

Disturbing to some degree that it was sold this quick. Why did Mark sale to that group? Buisness is buisness. I know Igar has money I get it. But Kushner where’s his money? They were involved with trying to buy the World Cup? The saudis. Not to get too political. But he has some baggage. So we’re essentially owned by the Trumps.

just face it his brothers wife. His sister in law the Trumps. And they are getting their hands in everything now a sports team? Like wow. It’s like your sister marrying a C Bags fan. I guess we’re going to have to make this work. Gonna be interesting in L.A. maga hats. Where’s the money coming from are we going to be flipped and sold to some saudis??

I’m not sure about anybody in the organization. Now are you going to have to watch what you say? I see why Lebron left. I’m sure he’ll have something to say.

all I hear is California sucks but he just bought California’s most valuable team. Make that make sense.

I'm trying to find some silver lining to this b*******. When Disney owned my Angels, they did a fantastic job, they put money into the team, rebuilt Anaheim stadium, the team was always entertaining and competitive, and we won a world series.

Alright optimism over. Still hate it.

It’s Disturbing. Mark has money. How can we afford this? Or better yet how can they afford this? Will our guys be sold off? All you can hope for is they make money and sale it off. Hey Bezos do you want to buy the Lakers??? Walter I felt okay he has money I’m good. I don’t know what to think. Now. When I saw that investigation I thought b*******. But this must have been a quick forced sale. Damn Lakers can’t have s***.

Ima appreciate our 2020 championship win. Do we even pay Luka his max now?

Dude I appreciate your optimism. But there’s no way this is better than Mark Walters deep pockets. Going from blank check to having to actually watch the money. And Just tells me this investigation is more and he had to sale one of his teams. Sucks cause he was going to be really good on the Lakers running the team. Well look at this way. They let Trump get away with anything. He has money so there will be money they can use.

A lack of stability is never good for a sports organisation. Changing owners twice in two years is not a good look.

Ironically it would of been far better if the Buss family sold the Lakers to Ballmer, at least that guy is all in.
