Dr. Dre sold Beats by Dre to Apple for 3 billion. Lebron got a piece but that was somebody telling him to get in on that.

True but it have competition like everything else. Then you have connections and politics. So someone will always be on the outside looking in

Some people at the bottom. However the rap industry generates lots of money but the culture and reputation of those who don't make it big are considered the lowest class in modern society.

The more they get into business side the smaller the bling bling gets. Why? You're conducting business and rubbing elbows with a different mindset and mature group of people. That was my point when your glass out it shows where your at.

To reference it to nba as a young player just signed that big contract your green and may not know how to handle big loads of money unless someone teaches you.

 

Your NBA career is a tiny part of your life. You will have decades of life after your playing days are over. Now, maybe you don't know where you want to retire, I would still invest in a home where you played then. Owning a home has never been a bad investment. I have known where I want to retire for over a decade, just waiting for us to get our t's crossed and i's dotted. Not everybody is like that, so do what floats your boat. Owning a home, outright, makes your life sooooo much easier. All you got to do is pay your taxes, keep your home in working order and eat. Since we paid our mortgage off, every single month our bank account grows. It is awesome. We used to be month to month and we were always worried about something messing us up. We were almost broke 15 years ago, now we own our house, have more in our Fidelity accounts than our house is worth and have enough income to live comfortably. The stress is over, but we worry enough about CA still getting too expensive and getting soaked by our leaders for everything we have built and saved for. We set ourselves up for retirement on a lot less income than any of these NBA players have.

 

But if your as successful and ea n a significant amount of money what would be the point in focusing on being a tech guy when you can make 20 million a year? This is why players skip college and go to the nba as soon as they can. What they can potentially earn in the nba they may have to work a lifetime to get to that amount. So if your good being the best basketball player should be your goal. Then if you're not good then you make career adjustments. Like if you're a gleague talent think about going back to school. Get that 250k and run. Thats still a good chunk for a 19 20 year old. But if you stick around until 25 you're going to be hurt if you haven't made a different career path.

Yes owning a home makes life easier if you can afford to pay it off. However if one buys a home that's not an investment and also not living in it it becomes it can be negative. Sure many people have second home or vacation properties. But if you're not making fluid money to upkeep and pay taxes then it can become a negative. So it depends it's not a total bad financial idea but it depends on cash flow. One can be paying 10-40k annually for something not being used. An investment to to create cash flow would serve better. You can then buy that house 3 times in at retirement. That house would have to gain a whole lot of equity.

 

Get you your house. Maintain your cars. And just invest your wealth smartly.

Rumor has it Lakers called up Ben Simmons. Can he serve as plan C as a PF/small ball center? I say its worth a look.

 

I like Ben Simmons for the minimum

 

I do to. Need to drop two players to sign him. maybe cut JR and Hardy. Trade JR and Dalton or Hardy.

 

I’d take Simmons. He is a good 3-4-5 defender if healthy and a good playmaker. For the vet minimum it’s worth a try and better than Knecht and Hardy.

We can do better than Ben freaking Simmons. Mental midgets don't match well with LA's bright spotlights, all of you know that. Why are we even entertaining this idea? I'd rather just keep Knecht or an empty roster spot if it comes to that.There's literally one player in the NBA I would pick Ben over and he is known for bricks and Slick being very fond of his contributions. Just HELL NO!
