Because too many of you allow yourselves to get suckered into the hoopla. LT is the ring leader of overexaggeration of value and positiveness Lakers players abilities. He's the typical Lakers fan who overvalues all things Lakers.

Lebron should have retired. He's likely staying in the NBA because this is the highest level he will ever be in, in his sports life. He may do business and invest and do all that crap, but he won't be Kobe or Shaq or Magic post NBA. He's too unlikeable around the margins. Having a sewer rat mouth piece like Rich Paul hovering around is pretty pathetic for a guy of Lebron's stature, but that's his MO. Just pretentious and condescending.

 

what hoopla? it's quite clear a bunch of stuff still has to happen. i just expected it to happen quickly. i have no doubts that a bunch of dominos are going to fall, though; too many teams have unsettled rosters right now, including principally gs, cleveland, and miami. the former two have avenues to make substantial moves that can have repercussions for us, imo.

 

Pretty surprising to me. I prefer it to Miami or Cleveland as there’s no way that bunch makes it through the year healthy. But man. Tom Brady watch is on for LeBron. Lol

 

yeah, failing a kuminga/pj washington level pickup, rob didn't get the job done. kessler was part of it. grimes is good but not enough to make me say he's a bona fide starter on a contending team. he could be, but i need more than that to feel great about the offseason.

i do think moving on from lebron and operating under the cap was the right move, though.

I might fall into oxes LT camp...lol. I like our off-season more than most bc I see Walker as being a huge addition. IMO we have the superstar in Luka and two all-star level players behind him in AR and Walker. I also think the players we signed fit well with our core. Our synergistic level as a group is going to be far beyond our individual parts. I love our athleticism and youthful energy. Plus I think something else is still likely to happen.

 

there's no graceful way to wind down a superstar career. you cut ties or go down with the ship.

i guess philly gets the best of all worlds, like we had when malone came here. i think this will go similarly, btw. they'll win a lot and be very dangerous, but lebron and/or embiid will get hurt before they get a ring.

 

Yeah, the giddiness also annoys me. And now the copium towards Lebron signing at the minimum. Any team would have taken Lebron at the minimum. Even at 45, that would probably still be a good value, so no, you can't say we are better off without him, when we don't even have a starting 4.

I dislike both Rob and Lebron, but I think Lebron is much better at his job than Rob and probably has done more for the Lakers. At the end of the day Lebron was here for 8 years playing at a really high level, and the FO couldn't maximize that window. 1 Finals appearance is not good enough.

 

Sixers take a pay cut and not get stuck with Bronny. FU LeBron!

 

Also, it was pretty obvious that Lebron wanted to end his career in LA, but it seems there was a combination of:

- the FO pissing him off enough to make him want to leave
- not feeling he can win with the Lakers

It's easy to blame Lebron's personality for this, but I am amazed that Rob always manages to shift his side of the blame. He must have a great PR team.

 

beef with the FO aside, i think he just simply wanted to get out of the west. a lot easier to make a deep run when you don't have to go through jokic, SGA, and wemby

 

I don't wish LeBron any ill will, I hope he stays healthy and has a good year. With that said, I'm very glad he is no longer a Laker and we have a good exciting young team to get behind. Pessimists, optimists, we all want the same thing. We can all irritate each other on the way to the championship this coming season...lol.

 

Plus he got to be in the spotlight one last time.

 

This is super surprising to me. Seems like of all the places he could go, this is the worst choice. I cannot imagine Embid being able to play even half the year.
