The problem with player options that Rob was giving is that Rob didn't have to give them.

The players he was giving them to weren't superstars, etc., They were role players getting paid their appropriate value.

Giving a player option to say, Jaxson Hayes, made no sense. Same with Walker Kessler. Is he getting top dollar anywhere else? So why give him that player option.

LeBron could get it because he can simply say if you don't give it to me, I'm gone.

It's bad negotiation from Rob and my guess is agents know Rob will give it so they ask for it anwyays.

 

I think he goes to the Cavs too....which I think I am at peace with at the moment. So I am curious what the next thing is.

 

i get the sense that not wanting to be relied on so much defensively was part of the reason he didn't want to return. between luka and reaves, he's the only one who can actually defend and to his credit, he did show up on that end in the playoffs

on a stacked team like philly, he doesn't have to worry about that

 

he can play the 4 and take the weakest opposing player there, which is what he wanted here.

somehow even a shame from this choice. A top 2 player in history chooses a team for the sake of ring chasing, as for me, the action of a player not on the scale of LeBron., Maybe I'm wrong and 5 rings and 4 titles with different teams will be important for the legacy, but for my taste, it's not

 

everyone basically immediately forgave and forgot that shameful miami move, so i'm guessing he realizes he's teflon in this regard.

 

I think he and Rob just hated each other. They each tried to blame each other for the Russ trade and LeBron probably resents that Rob never wanted to empty the clip to go for it with him and AD after like 2022, but then was immediately willing to do so with Luka. Rob probably resented LeBron/Klutch meddling like they always do. And then ultimately, Rob won the power struggle because he was Kobe's agent and is party of Jeanie's circle.

 

Philadelphia is a huge s*** hole, by the way. Had a layover there the other day, and just approaching the city, there was this huge very visible cloud of pollution covering all of the city center. You'd have to be insane to be a billionaire and want to live there.

 

even if rob wanted to go for it, he wouldn't have been able to with lebron taking up such a big chunk of the cap. and in fairness to lebron, he was still very much playing like a max player until this past season. but i think getting out of the west was his main priority

 

I'm sure over the years more will come out but I would imagine Rob is ecstatic not to be dancing to LeBron's idiocy anymore. The Laker collective can finally breathe a big sigh of relief...lol.

must admit i was foolish enough to think things were waiting on this and several teams were going to proceed with immediate plan Bs, but nothing yet.

 

Teams will wait just long enough so they can say they weren't waiting for LeBron and this was their main option all along.

guess this means the real holdup is the aspiration thing.
