What always stood out to me with him is the steady improvement. Especially on defense. Guys a hard worker and keeps getting better. I think he’s got a good shot at being a fan favorite.
Love this signing. Exactly the kind of low-risk, high-upside move good front offices make. Ziaire is a young, athletic wing with legit size who’s gotten better defensively every year and can switch onto multiple positions. His jumper is smooth, even if the three-ball still hasn’t fallen consistently. If he figures that part out, the Lakers may have found a real steal. Great value, virtually no risk. Love it!
I like this deal a lot, considering also that he's only 24. He could bring defense, athleticism and dynamo to our roster, expecting a slight improvement in 3point %.
I actually was wondering if maybe Williams has been debating our offer for a while, and the hype around Kaluma pushed him to take the deal to avoid a scenario where Kaluma continued to play his way into stealing that open roster spot. I still want Kaluma on a two-way though
1 yr deal is interesting. If he plays well, he’s gone for more money. or if others develop, maybe he’s flipped for a 2nd round pick at the deadline
You forgetting the option we can sign him for up to mid level next year if he’s doing well and digs it here?
100%, Williams is a much better get than Kuminga. And for $15 million less to boot. Why are the Lakers waiting on Kuminga to make a decision. Pelinka needs to face the facts here, Kuminga is too expensive for a player that has proven very little. Push him to the side. I am also not seeing Thybulle as a Laker either. The bottom line is that for 2 years he is not available for many games, his body is just wearing out. I love the Williams signing, that is the type of player we should be adding, not Kuminga. Their stats are almost identical and Kuminga has benefitted by being on much better teams. Williams has had to make his stats on his own. The Lakers need to move Vandy and Knect for sure. Bronny will go too, but probably for a couple 2nd round picks. Here is my idea. I propose making a trade with Minnesota for Josh Green and Rocco Zikarsky. #1- the Timberwolves like Vanderbilt and see him as their PF. More importantly Ant loves him and they are best friends. Offer Vandy & Knecht for Green & Ziharsky. We move off almost $17 million in salaries. Green is a better fit for the Lakers as a 3&D guy, and Rocco gives us a real backup to Kessler. They are similar in size @ 7'2, both are solid defenders, and both are just scratching the surface of their abilities because they are so young. Green is much more moveable than Vandy if we don't want to keep him, and is on an expiring contract. The key is the Wolves love Vandy when virtually no one else does. What are we waiting for? They will fill their PF need sooner rather than later. Pelinka, get off the pot. Trade for a 3&D and a real backup center.
Ant seems to like Vando personally, but no way the Wolves would want him back. Tim Connelly has already traded him twice lol. He traded him to Minnesota when he was running the Nuggets, and then literally one of the first things that Tim Connelly did when he got to Minnesota was trade Vando to the Jazz in the Gobert trade. I think there is a zero percent chance that Tim Connelly and Chris Finch, who are both pretty good at their jobs, would want Vando at PF next to Rudy Gobert. Because that makes no sense at all when their entire offseason has been about putting more offensive skill on the floor next to Ant.
