I look at Sexton as our Luke Kennard replacement. Younger, more athletic and a bucket. My second favorite acquisition this summer behind Kessler.
Yeah, as much as we liked Luke for his shooting and IQ, he was never a 6th man type of scorer. Luke can get you a constant 10 pts and 20+ on occasion. Sexton can average 20 and explode for 40. As a bucket-getter Sexton is on a completely different tier.
I tried to reply to both you and Cookie but got it all messed up...lol. Yes, huge tunnel of doom has to be used somewhere. The Dame of Doom sets us apart from other sites and will always be my favorite thread. This upcoming season we will be enjoying coffee and doom often. I'm hoping North Pole Roasters will have a couple new flavors out for the occasion.
I like seeing all those inside passes and drives to the paint It keeps the defense honest and creates easy points We need that so we don't live at the 3 line
I see Sexton having a Malik Monk type arc in LA. I predict he’ll become a fan favorite. He has those intangibles that endear to Lakers fans of being a fearless dog with swagger.
He gets to the rim more than any guard not named Reaves we have had in a while, so that’s definitely something we lacked and will stand out there’s also this stuff, so he should be a fun watch
he should have the proper role here as a spark plus bench scorer but man his defensive numbers are awful. Really need well a Smart type (or Suggs) etc. This team building is like checking the boxes without looking at the whole right now.
he's the kennard replacement, not the smart replacement. he's better than kennard on both ends (both are epically bad defenders, though, granted).
Read he has the 5th worst cumulative +/- in the history of the league. He played for too many tanking teams but... yikes. Not the stat you want to be linked with. Trusting he's out of bottom 25 by the end of his Lakers tenure https://www.statmuse.com/nba/ask/nba-worst-career-plus-minus-in-history Fun facts from this list: - LaVine is 4th - Bub Carrington, a kid (with talent) that has like 2(?) years in the league and plays at Washington is 20th. Which is crazy with such a short career - Vucevic is 25th ahah
i think it's a bit of a sneaky not-that-dubious distinction, like being a 20-game loser in mlb used to be.
