For me it’s definitely not about defending Rob. It’s also not thinking we’re better off as I really think we’d be a lock for a title run if he came back and we had any luck on the injury front.

I honestly think he just wants to go back to Cleveland. If he goes somewhere else then I’ll have a lot less positive thoughts toward him and us.

Thats why i think its a number of things and not 1 specific thing.

When he left Miami they had Wade Bosh cap room.

The first time he left Cavs they were able to draft Kyrie, Wiggins etc in rebuild. The second Exit Kyie left before he did and were not depleted of draft capital. I think Lebron leave team in shambles are over blown. Kobe did not leave Lakers and we still fell to the lowest point in team history.

Abeer is going to defend Rob until the bitter end; or until Luka starts getting blamed for our shortcomings. Then Rob absolutely has to go!!

This makes it sound like the lack of many official transactions today isn’t teams holding off so they can still negotiate other moves, but just a logistical delay at the leagues office? Idk maybe I’m interpreting Stein’s tweet wrong but that sounds strange

We won ONE series last year, lost everything else. We wanted to rebuild around Luka and find a center. We needed to rebuild. We did, we are not done yet. I hope we are not done for the year but I can deal with whatever happens. Losing Smart hurt but I can see our FO's POV. You cannot give long term contracts to guys who can easily get injured and take you in the opposite direction from a rebuild.

I am one of the older guys who has seen everything with this team. I don't really care that much in the details. Rob or no Rob, Lebron or no Lebron. I enjoy the different attempts we make to get better and realize that everything is a crap shoot.

My gut tells me that Walter bought the team and he also bought time. He is giving himself 5 years to learn the ins and outs of the league, network with people and figure out what to do. My guess is that he has given Jeannie and Rob a rough idea of what is important to him and he plans to take control in year 4 or 5. He obviously hasn't yet because we are being run the same as we ever were. Rambi's are in the house. Things will run their course. My guess is by the end of this year, we will still not win the championship but we will have completely remapped our future and will likely be closer to winning than we have been. I really feel like we went as far as we could with Lebron and AD. We got a ring out of it but it was never a dynasty. The guys that made us good last year were not a good solution to build with towards a future with Luka. Rebuild was needed. It is going to take a couple of years, we are close. Let's hope the guys we got are good enough to replace what we lost and attract a couple of more guys that will fit our team.

They are not good enough but Luka and Reaves will not be reined in by LeBron's presence so there's that to look forward to

Hopefully they will consistently bless us with their presence, in the postseason. Otherwise this will be a disastrous start to a new chapter.

hard disagree, and the teams' records will support me.

as for the kobe thing, this is more of my point--if you're holding the bag when the superstar expires, you're in trouble. that was what was behind this exit from our side.

and again, had luka had not come, i think we mostly go down with the ship.

if rob doesn't deliver a reasonable starting forward before training camp, i think he can go.

what i find funny is everyone so eager to pile on rob when his moves have been largely good. the whole "margins" narrative exists because it's hard to attack most of his big choices (westbrook aside, though oddly, that seems to be the only one you like, lol).

meanwhile, we pine for gms like stevens and morey, who f*** up just as big and have the same or less to show for it.

The Jazz struck gold in Peterson; they might have a better roster than ours right now.

I think it’s pretty clear there are far better GM’s out there than Rob. Connolly, Stevens, Presti, Bob Myers.

Rob has done pretty good though. I do feel like he doesn’t always win at the margins which is undeniable and secondly he seems to over correct. Last year we were an older team, now all of the vets are gone. Next year he’ll probably sign 5 of them to balance things out.

In other news...The Nuggets are rebuffing trade offers for Johnson, while claiming to be committed to matching offers for Watson, BUT they are open to sign and trade scenarios for him. Meanwhile..Aaron Gordon is owed 70M for the next two seasons, with a PO for the 3rd.
