No we have a pipeline of 3 and D players for sure. I pointed out before that about 1/3 the roster is perimeter defensive players. Smart/Vando/Vincent/LaRavia/Thierro/Manon/Bronny. That's actually about 40% of the roster.
Just need one of Vando/Thierro/Manon to pop as a shooter. Looks like Manon could be that guy. Looking forward to seeing Thierro.
And young Bronny is already showing my expected uptick at POA with the learning care of Marcus Smart. He is getting more up into players when it’s wise to do so and his hands have become much more active. Starting to hit some shots again with varsity and making plays both sides of the ball while committing very few turnovers. LOL cue the haters …. who at this point IS all they are doing.
Bronny is a much better athlete than Vincent. Bronny could have better upside than Gabe, and Gabe is an NBA player.
Not to mention he has like 6 or 7 more years experience and physical growth to catch and surpass where Gabe is. Already looks better in some specific areas.
He's a little older. He just hasn't displayed a consistent three point shot, yet. I'm hoping he's on the same trajectory as Caruso, who really didn't pop until his mid-20's or so. We need wings for sure.
Teams all around the league are signing guys like him to 3-4 year contracts for not much money. A famous one is Toumani Camara. Goodwin was also like this. You could do a cumulative 6m for 3 years. It’s peanuts and if he makes good on his defensive profile, you have a POA locked in.
I’d like to see him do it against nba guys first, but his defensive footwork and anticipation are off the charts.
His only shortcoming defensively is footspeed. Defensively he's a SG who can guard up or down, but if he's guarding PGs the speedsters are going to burn him. There's not an assignment that's going to surprise him or that he's not ready for and can win on the angles, but he can't keep up with the quick, twitchy points. Now maybe with us being as anemic as we are defensively, you can have him in lineups where he picks up full court and that puts the team in a short shot clock and with Kessler waiting at the rim, that's enough for an advantage.
Shhh! Don't say that. Rob dumps those kind of guys as soon as possible. You're supposed to say Buddy Hield.
