Q1 -Yaxel Lendeborg looks like the best player on the floor. -Carr can really shoot -Kalama has had really nice activity for us.
Adou looks poor at the half, against much better G league competition he looked dominant - here he looks out of control. Carr can shoot, he is going to be a great shooter.
Q2 I hate summer league passing. Sloppy and over telegraphed. Manon could be the third best defender on the adult team if he could stop fouling Thiero is maybe working on stuff the Lakers asked him to, because whatever it is doesn't look right other than his drives. Should be doing more against this competition. Not thrilled with how the J looked in the first half. They added a couple guys much more capable than the past couple years but either haven't played yet or haven't figured it out tonight
Adou calmed down a bit this half, playing good D. He shut down Yaxel on multiple possessions and forced two turnovers. That's where I think he needs to make his impact, on the defensive end. Adou is so damn athletic. Just out of control at the moment. Carr at 19 points. All his shots are going to be there at the NBA level, they're just open 3's, a nice curl off a screen and a backdoor cut. He just needs weight.
Q3 McCray: not a great showing as a ball handler Austin Jr: wrong role Thiero: outside of the and-1 midway through the Q, looked out of sorts Kaluma: liked his offensive movement better than Thiero's. Carr: confirmed, can shoot
Is it just me or does anyone else just not see the defense that people tote about Manon? Like, he is generally at the right place the right time and does the simple things. But I'm not seeing anything that makes me think he could make it at the next level yet. And I really would like him to succeed in a Caruso like story.
Q4 - was Thiero load managing? Cause he looked a lot better this quarter. First play was for him. 2 early stops. Another demonstrative attack midway through the Q. - Carr was our player of the game. - Manon looked steady. Probably 2nd best player tonight. - Want to see AK dive to the basket. Saw it in his highlight package but his shot was not there tonight - Kaluma: like the motor.
AC is a killer. Manon appears to be just a high IQ, positioning defender. He's a good defender, knows the play, makes the right reads and reactions but he doesn't know how to do it without getting the whistle. Meaning he'll have to dial down the aggression, ride it through until the refs accept that as his baseline, or just sign with OKC. I said above, I think he'd be the 3rd best defender on the big league's team. I like the confidence and steady hand offensively he showed tonight. All that said, don't think he's a NBA role today. Maybe a year away, if we're generous.
