I would be more excited to watch games this year watching to see how our future minded decisions were playing out vs watch Lebron play. But that's just me. I'm ready for the next chapter. Why not wish him well on the new Senior squad. Can those guys stay healthy to make a run? I kind of doubt it. And will they have any depth to speak of? Again, I kind of doubt it.

But it could be a nostalgic cool story too. You know Davis doesn't want to play with Trey in Washington. No way he wants to be there.

I mean it's pretty easy to see that being a reason where he was just fine shooting before and after. Always felt he deciding to take way too difficult of shots when he was here

It's an opportunity to reset the defensive roles on the roster. Now that we have our two offensive stars locked into place, it would be better to surround them with three defensive players in the startign lineup (think Anunoby, Bridges, Hart on the Knicks). I previously thought Rui would be an easy replacement for Lebron, where we could at least get the catch and shoot aspect. But Rui wouldn't fix the defenive issues around Luka and Reaves in the starting unit. So Rui would also likley not be the answer at the starting 4. With Lebron likley gone and possibly Smart, Lakers need to find out who is going to be the starting 3, 4, 5. Should have around 48 million in cap-room, trade ballast, and draft assets to address this.

There's simply no way LeBron left for the summer without multiple discussions on what we were thinking and how we would try to address team needs and his contract.

It's way too early to panic as we're clearly preparing to do something big, whether it be a huge RFA offer or a trade. But if this offseason turns into LeBron gone, Smart gone, stop-gap at center (Rob Williams or Robinson), maybe re-sign Rui and/or Kennard and Grimes/Oubre type signings I think that would be pretty disappointing.

Lebron knew this was happening. Hence the Lakers haven’t offered LeBron James a contract offer as they prioritize a Center.
