Yeah, it's definitely now or never for him. I expect us to upgrade the roster one way or another.

Rob is solid, he's unlikely to be going anywhere anytime soon

Yah, Pelinkus is solid alright. A solid turd. And he will be flushed as soon as Jeanie's d****** is gone or maybe even a little bit before then.

i'm nowhere near as down on rob as 90% of the fanbase, but i'm thinking this time next year it's unlikely he's in charge.

He has to pull off several mini miracles this summer to keep his job.
He ran his mouth about this being the summer, so he better deliver.
No one forced him to make that promise to Luka.

he really didn't, though. that was unsourced information supposedly from luka's camp.

what he did was refrain from making any trades with our expiring contracts in the name of flexibility. i understood that, but right now...it's looking like that flexibility is going to buy us jack squat.

I’m sure getting a new GM will feel like “mana from heaven“ to some fans :D

Again, Rob hasn’t been all bad- he rebounded well from his own Westbrick Disaster, but has fumbled many of our assets.

I thought we should have just cleaned house and got a new group in here to lead things now to be honest.

BUT, since we didn't, I'm fully rooting for Rob to be successful this summer. We need to take advantage of Austin's cap hold being low and make a real step toward making the team better.

foil helmet: giving the rob the blessing to chase duren was a set up.

ownership agreed it was the highest possible return with the only downside being you missed out on offering long-term contracts to guys like rui, kennard, and smart--which you might regret very soon. it costs no draft picks, either. if you fail, you blame rob and fire him; selling luka on the idea that we have a blank slate and will bring in better execs.

i don't believe in this, but really, only luka needs to.

anyway, i will, as always, wait until the dust settles to freak out. forces are working against us, but that's often the case.

Rob getting Luka buys him a little leeway and time. But not much more. He needs to deliver on some more help this offseason.

If we don’t get to real contention by end of the season he will probably get canned and deservedly so if that’s the case.

Yeah Vlade called it, he has this offseason and up to the trade deadline to get a team together.

That could mean getting a wing now like Watson for RFA. We could maybe make a move for a center at the deadline - what’s the chances someone falls off the wagon for 2 firsts at the deadline?

    Wishful thinking I’m sure.

What’s the original source for that article? I’m just curious why it took 7 years for that story to come out.

If Rob doesn’t nail this offseason then fire him ASAP and don’t let the door hit you on the way out. I’m just not going to get riled up until we see how things shake out.

You know, (and this isn't anything against you Weezy as I know you're just posting a clip and we generally see eye to eye on our leadership) but I gotta call it how I see it and I just never really buy these stories.

From the Clippers with Magic to all the talk of Rob not knowing the salary cap, most of it always just comes across as teams trying to take a shot at us.

Even if true, the success of the franchises who leak this kind of stuff is nonexistent. Perhaps they should spend a little less time having laughs about the Lakers and more time trying to actually build their own franchises up. I mean, at that point in time the Pelicans barely had their own functioning front office.

I am still celebrating us getting new ownership and have been a critic of hers for pretty much her whole tenure (lol), but I would even get Jeannie having some questions about how the pick swaps in a deal that size would work exactly, specifically with all the other trade rules around draft picks the league has. The CBA has always been purposefully convoluted with provisions outright slapped together for the express purpose of hurting us and other large franchises.

And ultimately, one team got a ring and several playoff appearances out of the deal. The other has struggled in the lottery and can't get right despite multiple lottery picks and a "superior" front office led by Griffin who...checks notes...got fired.

I'm not even a Rob guy. He's not as awful as he's sometimes described but not that great either. Overall, he just isn't the guy I would have picked or kept around.

But I'd love to see him and our team just shove this kind of crap down the entire league's throats with another dynasty run.

Like, you're the Pelicans. Stop throwing pebbles at the throne and go back to the end of the line where you belong. #EndRant

I just thought it was a really funny story from both sides and I love Arrested Development. It’s not that serious guys. I do think we likely will struggle to advance and make better moves until the FO is completely reset though, just too much bad blood between multiple parties, multiple agencies and our FO. IMO we just need to start fresh with people with better relationships around the league, so we aren’t looked at as this team that so many others want to stick it to.
