You’re not counting the year after as a downgrade and failure because Rob changed some of the players I hope, as his haters here do all the time. That was an even stronger team and showed it very early on D too but then all the injuries combined to have us flame out in the playoffs.

agree that the stats hate jones, and that's a concern, especially coming from denver. but it's a little wonky in denver due to jokic, too. and a lot of their picks have taken years to blossom--not sure what that's about, tbh. there's a reason they chose to extend braun and not watson (advanced stats don't love watson, either, btw), and it was the late blooming. not to go off on too big a tangent, but i really wonder what it would be like if knecht had been drafted there. like, he probably doesn't have the big rookie games, and his two-year stats are probably identical, but he gets to be disappointing quietly, then maybe gets a chance to break through in years 3 or 4 instead being labeled as utter garbage because, as a 17th pick, he wasn't ready to start for a team with title hopes.

re: ellis, i'm actually not concerned. he's a mini kcp to me. similar flaws (the gripe with prime kcp was the he couldn't handle the big wings, which was whined about ad nauseum at the time), similar strengths (covers ground, contains the dribble, gets steals, makes threes and can get out in transition). i feel like sac went crazy and was a terrible situation, and he was just in a numbers crunch in cleveland. if his price is really down to room mle or lower levels, i'll be mad if we don't get him. may not be a playoff guy, but maybe reaves and luka don't have as much soft tissue wear and tear from being our best options as perimeter defenders (lol, but seriously...the reason reaves was out there to be iso'd was that the other option was playing kennard or having luka or lebron be the guy who ended up with the iso out top). i just think there are domino effects, and having regular season minutes-eaters isn't a bad thing. playoffs start and you dust off lebron and marcus smart for an extra 6mpg each, etc.

Full disclosure with Ellis its an eye test issues with me. I just haven't been impressed outside of the preseason game against he Lakers when i've watched him. He's does really try on defense but something was just off about watching him on iso D. Cason Wallace was strong enough to bother a guy like Murray for example while with Ellis felt Murray was able to get to his spots fairly easily. Sac tried to do the let Ellis cook on D thing with him and it just didn't work in the game I watched. I don't have enough time to watch full tape on these guys obviously but I was really ready to like him. Just my limited film review but when you see professional coaches kind of not using a guy hard to ignore

Agree KCP also got overpowered but that was more big wings (all the psuedo Lebron that have come inthe league - kawhii, paulo, etc) I think he did just fine with guards both 1 and 2's

Meanwhile a guy like Thybulle - man does he pop on defense. Just ultra quick hands with positioning but I don't know if his improved 3 point shooting is a mirage due to the limited sample size from all his injuries

I’m not convinced Doug Christie is a professional coach, tbh.

I'm perfectly fine taking hits for Rob - I liked all the moves the post-bubble year but if we're being honest and I've been a Hedgehog fan is he clearly doesn't fit the bigger/physical model. (Still think the Lakers were the best team that year and they would have won back to back without the AD injury plus why the hell did Solomon Hill have to dive after that one loos ball of all the one he probably had no chance of getting)

I was excited to logon and see that there were several pages of new content and figured there must be some news or encouraging action.

unfortunately I was led astray, and it wasn’t even enjoyable to read. :speechless:

Didn’t Wemby destroy him this last year in a game?

I think A.D. is done. I can’t see a scenario where I would be willing to give up anything to get him here unfortunately

Nah man one game this season. He’s got plenty left. You saw what he did when he first got to Dallas before he got hurt. I’d draft him 3rd round in fantasy. Guys a stud. What I’m saying is look at his tape against the Warriors in the playoffs where he closes out on Curry in Staples with Curry with the ball in his hands with the clock winding down. You can’t teach that. He won us that series.

dude was a beast you can’t that away. Dude can still ball. Hes Wemby level for sure. He was the best two way player in basketball.

    I still think Centers.even now it’s

    1.Wemby
    2.Jokic
    3.Davis.
I think Davis better than Sabonis. And I’d rather have Davis better than Sabonis over Sabonis.

Reaves is crafty. Athletic is a stretch.

    Cooper Flagg is athletic.

    Brent Barry was athletic.

Reaves can throw it down. But Bob Sura was athletic.

    Grayson Allen was athletic.

Tom Chambers was athletic. And I went to his basketball camp.

But now AD is made of glass and is a meme.

there’s no questioning that at his peak he was an all-time great, but the dude’s body has just failed him.

I think you would be lucky to get 40 games a year out of him now, and it’s a total crapshoot if he would be available for the playoffs. But I seriously doubt any Extended playoff run is in those bones.

Thybulle was 2-14 and 1-11 in the playoffs. This was a guy I brought up a long time ago but I believe his improvement on offense is fool’s gold

I don’t find using LeBron and WAR for bit part players super useful. There’s too much noise still and not enough sample size.

I’m not expecting anything special from someone like Spencer Jones or Thybulle. They just need to defend like they do and hit the 3. Both have been at 40% last season.

My whole thesis is we’re close to being a 60 win team, we just need to incrementally improve.
