I saw this earlier and didn’t think much of it. Natural questions for any exec to ask when getting on board.

Seeing that Rambis is involved is worrisome.

Agreed. I get people wanting to be clear on who they answer to, if their career is tied to Rob, etc but yeah. Not the news I wanted to hear.

you walk in the room and see Kurt along with Rob and knowing Jeannie is out there doing…something… and yeah. I get having some concerns.

just...why is kurt there at all? why is he here, generally speaking? if kurt is part of rob, fire both right now, tbh. i always viewed kurt as a jeanie attache.

i also don't like the continued tradition of allowing the franchise to be used to pump up the value of specific individuals. like, i had no idea who this minny person was until it was published that they turned down the job. incredibly convenient for that person.

my hope was that walter and his folks would end that kind of b*******, but here we are.

A blank check for a better job and still not getting your first choice (or one of them). Not the start i wanted to see.

Gotta punt Rambis into the sun. This is a terrible edit but he doesn't deserve better so it's perfect.

I expected him and Linda gone, at the least him once the season was over. :swear:

They seem pretty intelligent beyond the track record
Article already points to the salary cap as road block in the NBA vs MLB. Spending money where they can get a clear competitive advantage analytics and medical staff

If I was being very cynical I would say keeping the jeanie, rambi, and the Laker connections is simply a way to make sure players around the league similar to Lebron know that the Lakers will always be a destination for stars and they will treat them right.

This all really annoys me, but I feel like the new ownership is doing the work and really trying to build out organization. It also sounds like things in our organization were as bad (or maybe even a little worse) than what most of us have suspected over the years, so I grant the new team some patience overhauling things on the fly.

But man, there's just no reason to keep any signs of the old leadership model around. That starts with keeping guys like Kurt out of the room when you are trying to show everyone that its a new day. You've already got to convince a guy to come in and work with Rob. Asking a guy to come in and have Rob and Kurt standing over their shoulder is probably going to be a tough sell to anyone who didn't grow up bleeding purple and gold. Who's the boss? Who are you answering to? What exactly does Kurt do? Do I have to run decisions by him? Can he fire me?

That's before you even get to the side issues like Rob's reputation and the every day drama that always seems to be around the franchise.

That's a lot of unknowns and red flags when you are trying to lure in someone who is already a millionaire.

The Dodgers guys are smart and I think they know what they are doing, but they've got to clearly show everyone around the league that things are different here now.

Yeah. I feel like if you are Rob, then you don't want Kurt attached to you. Better to be letting everyone know that you are full speed ahead with the new vision and are ready and willing to adapt to the changes that are coming.

if Kurt wants to visit and have coffee while watching a practice, then whatever. He is a Laker legend and I loved the guy as a player.

But he shouldn't be making decisions or involved in these talks IMO.

Yeah there's really no reason for a well-regarded front office guy from another team, who will probably have options over the next few years, to take a job under Rob right now. If Rob strikes out this summer, you could probably get his job a year from now.

it seems like they're wisely targeting underlings from successful opposing FOs, but yeah, they might have to go further down the chain to find someone who thinks this opportunity is better than just sitting tight and waiting for a leadership position.

If Kurt is still around then it must mean that Jeanie still has some power.
Or was it a demand from Jeanie to Walter that he stay as long as she remains?
    This is all very strange.
