Man, the obsession with getting rid of Austin is just weird.

It really is. I don't get it. AR has size and is moldable. You gotta resign that man. I'm thinking $30m per year. $35m if you have to. I think AR signs that deal if you show him how you are going to use that extra money to build around him and Luka.

i like reaves, but it's very concerning how he completely folds against more physical teams. he can't be trusted as a true 2nd option behind luka

Yeah I don't get the "will stop supporting if we keep AR" bit lol there's certainly way worse things that can happen than keeping an homegrown player who's a great guy, a competitor that often plays through injury and that literally became better every single year.

I've been following the Lakers since the early 00s and he is certainly in the top10 of over 20 years of Lakers teams. And quite close to the top 5

I get that. But, I think he can work through that. Kyrie was that way. That Boston series Kyrie just disappeared completely in the finals. At least AR has the size to combat it. He needs to hit the gym a little and work with Luka. If you notice Luka is like Dirk where he likes the contact. He will routinely bump guys right before shooting. It's not to draw a foul. He learned that from Dirk. Dirk said he did that to make the defender a little uncomfortable and to feel out the defender. Luka uses that to his advantage now. It also does make the ref make decisions when the offensive player gets a little more aggressive.

That being said I think the cap for AR is $35m per year. I would prefer it being $30m but we'll see.

I think 2012 Bynum and 2013 Dwight each have an argument. But yeah, Austin is in the top ten.

You guys are misinterpreting the reason why some are advocating to trade Reaves.

It's not because we dislike Reaves. It's because Reaves is the biggest valued asset outside of Luka. Which logically means, the best way the Lakers can significantly improve this team with a better 2nd option is by trading Reaves. I personally don't see Reaves as a legitimate 2nd option on a title contender. Some do. Okay, let's see the Lakers prove it this season.

This is blowing past you guys who seem to think people here are advocating to trade Reaves for some bench players.

It's the fact that Reaves is this good but also coupled with him making max dollars that the Lakers would be able to get a better player in a trade when you match the salary and if picks are involved.

No one here is seriously suggesting to trade Reaves for scraps. We're saying IF you can get a better player or combination of players, you have to seriously consider it.

Obviously, to give Luka the benefit of the doubt in him wanting to keep Reaves, you have to give them a season to work it out. But let's say it is midseason and it doesn't look as intended. That is the exact reason why we are saying what we are.

If the Lakers can significantly improve the roster in the offseason without trading Reaves, let's do that. That's the first and best option for the Lakers right now.

It's honestly you guys being weird by claiming that anyone suggesting to trade Reaves is somehow committing treason.

It's honestly pointless. I'll be back when the roster is set. Got money to make and these discussions just go back-and-forth between unrealistic and nonsensical.

See Ya! And now casual fan Vlade. We know you'll both be back though flogging the same dead horse every bad game he has and we lose .... and for whatever reason, not even his fault .... if there's no chip won. Except WE didn't build the team. Jeanie's out of the picture. You'll have a new whipping boy in Mark Walter for being such a dumb** not really knowing "Ball" like you guys.

Yeah that was the line of thinking, I was having AR around the Odom spot. If better or worse is arguable, I really liked Odom and I think in the end will depend on titles and Lamar was a big part of 2 of them

I think they are similar tier players now but AR has the potential to go a tier above if he takes the next step, imo
Yeah Bynum too (he's in my profile pick, I think, my first non-Kobe fav player ahah). I never liked Dwight and only have bad memories of that first stint, but are probably skewed by bias. I did like him in the title year, his approach to his role was excellent

But yeah the point was he is clearly top ten which is saying a lot of AR
