If Luka keeps playing at this LEVEL and we keep winning against good teams there’s no justifiably reason other than Lakers bias that he doesn’t win MVP. He’s clearly the best player in the league right now.

    Luka's efficiency tonight:
    9-17 from 3, 53%
    9-13 from 2, 69%
    15-19 from FT, 79%

If we got him the same # shots as Bam, at the %'s Luka shot tonight, he would have literally had 98 pts. NINETY-EIGHT POINTS.

Bam's 83 is so fake. F Bam, Spo, and supposed "Heat Culture." Total BS.

I don't even know what voters will be looking at anymore.

He's obviously doing more than Shai. OKC's record without Shai is like 8-4 or 8-3. And the record isn't that far apart to say Shai deserves it over Luka right now. Two weeks ago, for sure. Not now. When you consider that the Lakers are playing with an almost new roster and key players have been in-and-out throughout the season.

And he did it against a top 5 defensive team in the league where every shot mattered. Bam did it against total bums in the Wizards. I couldn't name 3 players who played that game against Bam.

    This was far more impressive.

I'm ecstatic that we have this guy in his prime for another decade. Nico is a Lakers legend.

    Efficiency Tonight:
    3PT: 53% (9/17)
    2PT: 69% (9/13)
    FT: 79% (15/19)
    Simulated Volume:
    3PT: 34 attempts → 18 made → 54 points
    2PT: 26 attempts → 18 made → 36 points
    FT: 43 attempts → 34 made → 34 points
Total: 124 points in a single game
    Context:
This is purely theoretical, but demonstrates Luka’s historic efficiency + scoring potential

Luka has entered "force of nature" out there playing the game of basketball Gloss territory. Without dunking. He can but doesn't need to. So strong so skilled and the apex competitor in the league and the best player in the league now. I'll say it too. >> MVP or it's a complete anti-Lakers sham.

It would be a significantly more interesting conversation if AD could stay on the court.

No one could keep this up, so yes I expect him to have some comedown games. I would say as with any team I hope we aren’t peaking too early and giving playoff intensity right now only to tire out once they’re here, but what can you do really, we need to start to gel sometime. I still don’t think we have the roster to be a true contender, but if they can play this together and this hard in the playoffs, I do think the WCF are an outside chance depending on what teams we’d face.

As far as AD, loved AD, but he was declining. I’d wanted to trade him for a solid young player and as many first round picks as possible before he fell apart, but I never saw being able to get Luka for him. That’s like a one in a million thing with Nico and his dislike for Luka and how bad he wanted AD on that roster. The perfect storm, and where I do give Rob full credit there is being able to only send one 1st back. AD was great, but they literally traded for him while injured. I know Luka was too, but injured at 26 and injured at 32 are not the same.

Actually, the only team I can think of in recent memory are the Spurs.
