Bynum had glaring red flags in his injury report coming into the league, missed a bunch of games his first few years, became a legit All-NBA center in 2012 and then basically never played again. I'm willing to trust our medical reports on Williams.

Irwin said on the show after the Sixers game that he asked if we replaced any of the scouts that were fired, and he was told nope, we haven’t. So that’s not great, but hopefully soon, definitely well before the draft, at least a few to watch players still playing in college, I mean come on.

To be fair, we do have one scout on the roster if the FO is willing to kiss and makeup with him, maybe he'll share his scouting reports.

Plus, Bryce is at Arizona this year. They're projected to have 3 players from Arizona entering the draft this summer, Bron will have all the info on them.

so does that mean we have no scouts, or that we didn't fire every scout?

I’m sure we have some, just not any of the ones tied to the Buss bros. That’s one area I can’t be too upset about them not filling right away, same as if they fired a coach mid-season, I don’t imagine the best scouts are unemployed at the moment.

If people want to hate on Irwin, I don’t care, he does have his shtick, and his show is more comedy/basic Laker talk more than in-depth basketball, but come on man, he has sources. His friend that is regularly on his show works in the front office, I’m not sure why people don’t see that. Like you can not like his goofy a**, but he has sources, at least that one within the team, as well as with player agents. Hell he had an interview with Daryl Morey a while back clarifying Morey’s comments on the Lakers bubble title. I will continue to share things he says, he has a direct line to the team.

He doesn't have s***. Let common sense guide you. Journalist, real ones, don't exist anymore. All you have is these dinks. That's it.

same for gms, though, right? it's hard to just overhaul the whole thing in the middle of a season or after the summer's over. i was encouraged to hear the overhaul is coming, but i'm nervous because we have a pick and a ton of space this summer. we're kind of in do-or-die territory on luka's prime come july.

i was glad to hear he asked about the scouts, as that borders on actual journalism and not just the shock-jock dj stuff irwin typically trades in.

that said, i believe he has a source or sources, but i believe they're incredibly biased and feed him stuff that clearly suits a pre-existing opinion/agenda.

tbh, sports journalism is kind of ridiculous, and i get that that's what you're saying. but i think there are degrees. like, yes, you serve as a shill sometimes, but also being interested in the truth is good.

i saw you disparage stein recently, and imo, he at least attempts real sports journalism (i.e., he reports what he hears and doesn't seem to have any personal bias or slant to his reporting). like, yeah, fox news or msnbc isn't journalism in the way that it needs to exist in the world, but that doesn't mean anyone attempting to report information to an interested public has to be terrible.

So again Walter and his people and their methodology are already involved. So if people want to continue to think “they” know better about what’s best for this team than what new ownership’s plans A, B, C, D, E, and F are …. I find that really comical. Mainly because they hate Pelinka so much and just can’t help themselves from continuing to bash the front office. Yes chances are excellent Rob will be gone at some point maybe sooner than later BUT Walter and Company are very hands on already.

would love to know who the players were that we turned down. i'm sure he's not just talking about deandre hunter here.

this was a good, safe, media-savvy statement about why we didn't make big moves. he gave himself away a little but then caught himself with the "and we may keep our guys" comment. and i don't think he's lying about that...but i don't think it's plan A. he clearly thinks some players are going to shake loose due to the aprons. a lot of deadline moves were apron/tax driven, so he may be right.

that said, i still think the best chances will be on the periphery, as okc and denver are going to try like hell to let anyone but us benefit. need to pull a boston and get a jrue holiday out of our competitors trying to solve their problems without us.

I think we’re in for additions, Rob isn’t going anywhere, so not a full overhaul in that regard. I’m nervous as well, but you know why, it’s because I don’t trust him to build a roster. I think he’s too safe of a GM, plays it not to lose his job.

But anyway, regarding Irwin, I disagree on his source, because at least Aaron is always disagreeing with him and pushing back on his takes on Rob. I think it’s possible he has another source that is on the other side, not a fan of Jeanie and crew, or maybe that source is gone after the firings, but I also think he just thinks what he thinks and pushes that, I don’t feel it’s reinforced by anyone else. I do think sometimes his sources, same as happens with many others, feed false info or doesn’t give the full picture so not everything gets out there as well.

ironically, i think this is who the thunder will try to dump this summer. it will be tempting to take him, but i'd actually say no (!). he'll be 32 in a month and under contract for three more years.

ok...depending on what else happened, i might not say no...but i'm not giving up picks. some sucker will, though, and bail presti out.

but if he called me looking to dump caruso, i'd want to talk dort, wallace, or mitchell instead and then walk the convo back when some of his firsts were on the table.
