I was thinking the same, but i don't see Mark as a person, being in a "wasting time" business.

IF nothing happens by the deadline I don’t see Mark as a person having wanted to make a stupid move either if it hurt us big picture wise.

At this point I hope Silver rigs the lottery to get Darryn Peterson to Milwaukee.

That's a whole other dynamic. If Giannis is available past this deadline and he holds us up during the summer? Subsequently, you strike out after that waiting period?

Matter of fact, I'm really not that excited about a 31 year old Giannis.

    F me...

yeah, i've been rooting for giannis to move because if there's something that can screw both this deadline and the summer for us, it's that dragging out.

Yeah basically AD all over again which worked fantastic in our favor but if we didn’t get him that summer mannn… The difference is AD pushed his way here. Giannis nor the bucks have no idea what they want to do and changes by the hour.

I will say as much as I would like them to make a serious move this deadline I will wait until the summer is over to judge. However if they haven’t upgraded to a legit championship contender before training camp next year then they will just continue kicking the can down the road. Which at that point Rob prob isn’t even around. Can’t just keep kicking the can down the road with Luka on the roster. But I get it not may assets to play with until the summer. Just letting the expiring’s go I think is unwise. I realize most of them nobody wants but see if you can turn Rui into a guy that can play a 7 game series.

fear it will be more like the kawhi situation. we pivoted ok out of that and got a ring, but it's hard to operate that way.

my preference would be to just identify our list of FAs and go out and get them like we did with laravia last summer. offer larger short-term deals if need be to keep flexibility (this is what we did with danny green when we struck out on kawhi).

so many of the players we've been interested in are either FAs this summer or have POs. like, if you still like wiggins, it's not impossible he opts out in miami and we could sign him outright (probably at a lower annual value than his current contract). not out of the realm of possibility that you could sign ellis, wiggins, and dosunmu with the space we'll have. and we'd still have all our picks and all the players we like from this year save lebron and rui.

i get not wanting to trade a 1st with gabe and kleber for the names that seem available right now.

    one more day...

i didn't post it, but when i saw all the talk about draymond being ok with being traded, i was like...i could see him coming here. we'd trade gabe/klber/knecht/1st for him is my guess. he has a PO on his contract in the summer.

the reason i didn't post it is that i knew folks would get enraged. it's an awkward fit, but he's a winning player, even still.

This is a weird situation as the incentives for the BUcks and Giannis are completely different. I would have taken the GS deal in heartbeat if I was the Bucks - stripmine that franchise and let father time go to work on Giannis and Steph. But Giannis doesn't want that. He's got some leverage as he can be an UFA in 2027 but that's also a long time.
I feel really quesy abou this situation if I was the Lakers, you're offer is not going to be good as other teams so it's wholly dependent on what Giannis' "wants". THe problem he's not AD and he's been hemming and hawing.

What? I said he gets until next training camp in October 2026. So 20 months from the Luka trade. I don't know what a "dynasty contender" is, I'd just like to have a team that can realistically win the Western Conference. We swapped Anthony Davis and Max Christie for Luka Doncic on a roster that already had two pretty damn good players in LeBron and Austin. We did that on 2/1/25. I don't think it's too much to ask to turn that into a contender in 20 months. And it's fair to hold them to the standard they're setting themselves. If they're having Woike and whomever temper expectations by saying they'll have 3 picks and more flexibility over the summer, okay great. I think that's defensible. But if that's your MO, you have to actually use the three picks and space over the summer. You don't get to play the "well prices are too high over the summer" card again.
