I have a strong sense that a move is coming. Maybe not Giannis, but something along those lines.

    Precisely. I think it’s a downgrade.

Few more things from the Fischer chat:

    - Lakers don't want to take back future money. Want cap space this summer.

    - Thinks we want to find a center as a long term solution (not necessarily this deadline), DA ain't it.

    - SA also interested in Ellis.

    - Depending on what happens with the Cavs in the next week, Ball could be a buyout candidate

lot of teams supposedly interested in ellis that don't need him. either facilitating or trying to keep him from us.

Yeah, let’s trade our best shooter for one who can’t, at all.

If we get a first with this Rui deal, I like it. Hunter is a very good 3&D guy, having a down year, and is more skilled offensively than Rui. Typical buy low, and hope he has a great season next year on his contract year.

but Cavs want to dump his salary, and Rui is an actual legit starter, so we should be getting a first.

    Luka lol

Come on Rob give this team a chance and get rid of the deadweight like Gabe for a POA defender and let's go. This is the most fun Laker team since the Bubble year.

Too bad Wiz don’t have a reason to trade Sarr. He would be a perfect pairing with Luka.

Don’t tie your flexibility to Hunter. Dont make a trade to make a trade. Only trade Lakers should be making is Giannis.

trading rui for hunter would be a downgrade

but i'd be surprised if it happens. trades during the pelinka era have almost always come out of nowhere

Laker fans put this in perspective. Gianiss has put us on his preferred list. We are this much closer to Gianiss saying I will only sign an extension with the Lakers only deal with the Lakers. Then we are the team. Remember AD started with Boston and the Lakers and then went only to the Lakers. We got a shot.

i think that was more the media than AD. for years, boston was supposedly getting assets together to trade for AD. the problem was he never wanted to play there, so their assets didn't matter.

i don't think giannis will do that, though.

    I don’t want Giannis.
I want to build around Luka and Austin.

this would be my preference. if we truly could get giannis with our assets, then i guess you kind of have to consider it, so i understand that angle. but i think we're in a pretty good situation without such a dramatic move, and i'd rather see if we can pick at the bones of some of these other big deals (e.g., get portis for expirings and a second) to both enhance our current roster and create a sustainable team for the next five years or so.

i still believe the best route to that involves having a good chunk of cap space this summer (even with the weak FA market). a giannis trade throws a bit of a wrench into that idea, leaving us with not a ton of options to round out the roster around him and luka after such a trade.

btw, re: giannis/warriors--curry's knee situation looks sketchy to me. they're claiming it's nothing, but he missed some time with it already, and he was definitely struggling with it in the game last night (which he left early due to the knee pain). not sure making a move for giannis right now makes sense for them if curry isn't going to be 100% for the rest of the year.

If you truly have a chance to explore a Giannis trade, any front office has to do the due diligence. Players like that simply don’t become available often, and you can’t ignore the upside if there’s a realistic path. With that said, I’d still really like to see more of the Luka and Austin pairing and get a better sense of what this team looks like when it’s actually healthy. There’s some real chemistry potential there. If we could somehow fuse Rui and Vando into one player and swap Gabe for a younger, Smart-type guard, I honestly think this roster could contend for a championship.
