They are still trying to compete. That's why Rui would be perfect for them. They could just renounce him after the season and get under the 2nd apron. Ellis is too rich imo, because you are not taking advantage of his bird-rights.

I don’t actually believe Rob would do this trade as it’s stated. I’m not the highest on Rob, but that’s one thing you can say, he doesn’t come out on the bad end of a trade, he will not make the trade if it appears he’s not getting the better end or at least equal end of it, which this would not be. So at this point I’m not worried about it, if we are trying to get Hunter for Rui/Knecht I have to think more would be headed back our way as well. Also the trades we end up making never are the ones reported and rumored ahead of time.

people don't trade for expirings in the summer. that's giving up before the fight has started, and you almost never see it.

When I first heard about the DeAndre Hunter trade rumor a couple days ago. I was all in. I was thinking good 3 & D guy. He shot the 3 ball well from what I remembered. Was known for his defense in college. He was Defensive Player Of The Year. But then I saw his stats. His 3 point shooting has dropped this year compared to the previous years. His defense rating hasn't been great most of his career. It's concerning if the Lakers make a trade for Hunter.

Yeah the first going the Nets in that scenario would be fine. Lakers basically swap Rui for Claxton. That works.

Lakers Nearing Trade for 3-and-D Wing: Report

The Los Angeles Lakers and Cleveland Cavaliers are reportedly in advanced talks in a deal that would send De’Andre Hunter to Los Angeles for a package involving Rui Hachimura and second-year wing Dalton Knecht. A third team could reportedly get involved to make the financials work.

The major development was reported on by Cleveland.com’s Chris Fedor.

“My sources tell me that the Cavs and the Lakers have discussed a general framework surrounding De’Andre Hunter of Rui Hachimura and Dalton Knecht and then bringing in a third team,” Fedor said on the “Wine and Gold Talk” podcast, via Bleacher Report.

The report added that the Brooklyn Nets or the Utah Jazz, the teams with the league’s lowest payrolls, could be the thir
    d team to absorb salaries.

    "my sources tell me" lol

I can definitely see it if there's a third team and/or we're getting some other capital in the trade. Sure. Other than that, it doesn't make much sense for us. Wait and see.

    Beware of Deandre Hunter.

he’s the Porsche that looks like a Porsche but is actually a lemon.

The Lakers need to make one move Gianiss.

if that’s not there then pivot to Ellis and Monk. Simple as that.

Maybe try to get Kessler's bird right's from Utah? Remove the protection on the pick, and send them our 2032 2nd? They also get draft capital from Cleveland.

From Fischer's live chat that's ongoing...

-If a team makes a deal for Giannis at the deadline, Warriors seem the most likely destination because they have access to 4 future 1sts, swaps, and contracts.

    - Lakers are one of the team Giannis is interested in per Beck and Fischer said they've heard that too. But Lakers know they don't currently have the pieces.

    - Marshall, Ellis are guys we like. We're hopeful but not the leader for either. Thinks Ellis is our top target.

    - Hunter: some interest is there from us. Health and $ has limited his market and something he doesn't think the Lakers are all that interested in. Doesn't think it's our top target (but if the market dries up...).

    - Lakers and Bron are ready to end the marriage this summer.

    - Doesn't think Heat move Wiggins unless a superstar (Giannis) is coming back.

-MPJ is likely too pricey for us. Firsts and a young asset could be the ask.
