I'd try to trade our 31 pick unprotected, to OKC for Dort and their 2 firsts, in this upcoming draft. They can't keep everyone, and adding two more first round draft picks, just makes their roster even more crowded. They have Caruso and Wallace so losing Dort isn't that big of a loss.

 

i'm guessing they want someone who can help them now AND is on an expiring (like vucevic). we'll see what they can get. i just can't imagine them keeping him past the deadline, though. that's gone on long enough.

btw, i wonder if butler's injury might make them willing to trade kuminga + for lavine and ellis.

i would, too, but i'm guessing they'd try to keep one of their firsts out of it. also, they'd want to move dort to any other cap space team. we'd be last on the list.

Cause they aren't dealing Mobley. Hunter can't stay healthy (otherwise I'd be interested). We have Luka and Austin, so no Spider. No thanks to Garland.

Maybe there's something there with Allen, but haven't seen his name come up outside of rival teams speculating/ circling the waters. Salary wise you could do Allen and Lance for Rui and DK for a dollar for dollar match. I just think he'll cost you a pick (heavily protected 1st or multiple 2nds that we don't have) and with such a glaring need for a long term wing solution, I don't think we can spend that draft capital on a big.

You'd also need to flip DA for something in that scenario

in fairness, this report jives with what i said above--we're fully interested in getting kuminga for gabe/kleber/2nd, and gs is hoping for, like, anything but that.

feels like both sides telling the truth to reporters whilst leaving out important--and obvious--details.

gs leaked the "offer"; our FO leaked the "we're not talking about it and there was no offer". in reality, rob probably called and said we have expirings and a second if you can't find something, and dunleavy was like, alright, i'll see what i can do with that.

sets a nice stage for if gs gets anything more than a single second for kuminga they win, and we don't come out looking like we're spraying our first rounder in offers. win/win.

if some team in need of a creator wants garland, i'm willing to facilitate with expirings to get a two-way role player.

 

I would only be interested in Allen when/if they move Ayton and create some space under the first apron.If they do that than Rui for Allen would be an option

Rui as a bench scorer whose bought into a "banshee" type role - i.e. work hard on D has kind of low key transformed this team.
Starting and bench units make a lot more sense

Yeah, that would be a great move. They would still want someone that could still help them win now, and that person would probably have to be Rui. They both make about 18 million, so the trade would be clean. If we get the 27 and 29 from OKC, on draft day we could trade 26, 28, 33 if needed, or 27,29,33. So, we don't loose flexibility with our picks, which is great. Dort provides elite defense, and is also a high volume and accurate three-point shooter. The precise guard we need to put next to Luka and Reaves.

 

Austin being back should take care of most of the Gabe minutes IMO.
