I’m sorry, but does Silver actually think that the insane amount of threes already taken every single game is a good look? That’s it makes the game fun to watch???
Dude needs to wake up and realize that this is one of the reasons as to why viewership is down and “most fans consume the game now to watch highlights on their devices.”
Yeah, I prefer the glory days when guys battled instead of the current days of chucking. Also, get off my lawn!

I’m not a fan of the rule because it’ll have unintended consequences. Watch people follow through with their hand to try and swipe at a defender now just like they did with the kick out.

Just more foul baiting to come, less contesting 3’s and more 3’s in general. And then in the playoffs they’ll be allowed to hand check and wrestle.

More reason to keep Rivs now, I guess. One of the best foul baters in the league LOL. He might get 8 free throws a game next season.

Rob's going to have to add 1-2 more impact pieces if we want to make a serious run this season, IMO. Just have to see what's available by February. I'm sure there's a player that will want out; there always is...

    We’re mailing in the preseason.

I’d rather we get guys as healthy as can be for the season but it sucks that we’re going to have to try to gel while the real bullets are flying.

JJ is trying to channel his inner Phil. The Zen Master did not care one bit about winning any preseason games either. I am hoping our guys are actually doing something in practice.

LOL they're going to beat up and burn AR out in the pre-season.

    AR looks good or better.
Good sign Rui and Ayton playing like they were expected

LaRavia isn't some hidden star but he's a solid 2 way roleplayer which is something the Lakers have needed.

Also Gabe definitely has contract year vibes

Really need Lebron's back to hold up one more year and the Lakers to have a little luck at the dread deadline. Can see the framework

I know it was only preseason but it was a fun game and nice to get a win tonight.

I agree. Most guys looked really solid actually. It's starting to click. I knew Rui was sure to get it going eventually, and AR is going to be playing at an almost all-star level this year. I am very pleasantly surprised with Ayton (much better effort and D than I expected; he'll work great with Luka) and Gabe finally looks like the guy we needed from the beginning.

Appreciate the input as I have no way to watch the games

I did post scores in the preseason thread and it looked like balanced scoring

If Ayton is for real it will be a huge factor for us come playoff time

I'm really excited for this season to start and play out

i've only been able to catch highlights of a couple games (i watched the one that was nationally televised).

how does laravia look? the box scores aren't super kind, and he's on the wrong end of several highlights, but the game i watched he looked pretty good, and his +/- was good yesterday despite what appeared to be poor shooting.

with lebron on the shelf, we're going to need more from laravia to start the season, imo.

He looks exactly like one of those gazillion roleplayers Memphis seems to find - he's definitely not someone whose going to carry a team on offense even for short bursts but he's looks what the term I'm looking for competent? Doesn't look lost or like he'll get picked on defense and he's not afraid to shoot/attack the basket. Goodwin type but since he's bigger probably more valuable

He's going to be fine to really fine for us. Big solid dude and plays smart. Moves pretty well on D. He can handle the ball some in trying to make plays for himself, but like AR he pushes the envelope (good in these practice games) to that ragged edge where it's really risky trying to do that with the type(s) of handling he uses to get where he's attempting to go.

As in .... with AR some of the stuff he attempts you just hold your breath, but most of the time he pulls it off. And over time he has continually raised his handling capability. I think we will see the same thing with Jake. As he is already pretty decent with it.

Yeah, LaRavia looks pretty solid. Can knock down an open shot and gives effort on D. He looked pretty good on switches defensively. His tweener size actually seems helpful.
