Wasn't sure they were going to pay him. Makes him harder to move but they do have a zillion picks.
I don't think he's the guard for them long term, but he'll elevate their floor in the short term while Castle, Harper and Bryant (and Wemby for that matter) develop.

Spurs will be a force, we'll have a super entertaining West with OKC, Spurs and Lakers with the potential to be real forces for the next decade

That salary is what might make him overrated. Compared to Fox's time in San Antonio, this past season Austin Reaves averaged more points, rebounds, 3's, FT's, and better FG%, 3P%, 2P%, FT%, and eFG%. Fewer assists and steals. Better ORTG, DRTG, BPM, OBPM, DBPM, WS, OWS, DWS, LEBRON, O-LEBRON, LEBRON WAR, Net Points, O Net Points, D Net Points, WAR, O-WAR, D-WAR, and VORP. Yes, Fox was better in Sacramento, with numbers similar or close to Austin as a 2nd option, but for far longer. Fox is also slightly older and smaller.

My point is not to say that Austin is better than Fox, but simply that they're in the same ballpark, but Fox will be making $50-60 million/yr, and some people aren't sure if Austin will be worth $30-40 million/yr.

That's crazy money for Fox. And I like him! He's good, but not that good.

he's a great fit for the current roster, imo. they've got the shooting to space for him and to cover for what is surprisingly meh defense for such an athletic guy. by the time the contract looks bad, it will be almost over. meanwhile, all those picks means they can angle to replace him or develop replacements.

i wish okc and SA weren't so well set for the foreseeable future, but they are.

up to us to try and build around luka and compete with them.

San Antonio spiraling like Drake in Euphoria if they keep not making the playoffs with that Roster. Them young players gotta get paid.

and if Mr. Wambyana wants tinsletown Luka is there.

Shaq Kareem Wilt Gasol Ayton I’m just saying!!!!

We are pretty we either have Ayton Jokic or Wambyana.

Fox isn’t a great fit. Because he can’t shoot. But they were forced to pay him. A Reed Shepard or a Luka Doncic would be a better fit. Because of their ability to shoot and bring players out. That’s why I said Tre Johnson.

Fox is great. But he’s not the type of guard that is going to pull players out to the perimeter With their ability as shooters. Simple as that. He can’t shoot. But they paid.

like if San Antonio had Shai they would be better.

    Tier 1

    Doncic
    Shai
    Edwards

    tier2

    Young
    Fox
    Morant
    Garland
    Mitchell

Like I said LeBron privately reached out to Luka via FaceTime to congratulate him on his contract so all the hub jub was that hub jub. LeBron is happy.

but this is a 40 year old man. He doesn’t have to do all the bonding. Lebron ain’t flying on private in space or anything to go see the Backstreet Boys with the guys. Ain’t happening. Let the young fellas do that.

but when we talk about Luka chose the Lakers it’s like Lebron did the same thing. Lebron was the face coming here and now Luka is the face. That is awkward.

And nobody has said. Luka was traded for Anthony Davis LeBrons best friend on the team. Anthony Davis was here in L.A. because of LeBron. They are family. And I know it’s a buisness but LeBron maybe felt a sense of loyalty and might have seen that as rubbing it in his face. I completely get it and understand it.

Lebron didn’t have to be there.
