Kawaii just wanted to play with a player. Kawaii was always going to L.A. he just wanted to go home. I think he was always going to the Clippers. I think the Clippers over did it. They could have told him they’ll trade for someone who is better. They have the assests.

sold him on Shai as one of the younger up and coming players who will pick up the slack for you.

could’ve got Kevin Durant could’ve got Donovan Mitchell.

Sam used them. They had no leverage in that trade. He knew they were against it with free agency. The Clippers should’ve taken control of the negotiating and said we’ll get better.

did they really think Paul George should’ve went for an Anthony Davis package????? That’s insane.

tell kawaii this isn’t about a 1 year run. This is about a 5 year run.

All people say how smart he Clippers are how smart their front office is. All I see is a team continuing to try to cover up for Trading Shai and the rights that became Jalen Williams and Carson Wallace. That’s not savy. That’s just idiotic.

They have definitely signed big names and lots of experience, but the youth has to be a serious concern

Geez, it looks like he was punching the wall after every sub 40% shooting percentage performance

    :Fishwink:

after Malone, getting canned, I wonder if he is officially now considered a coach killer . For as much as Denver raved about him, for them not to have reached out to keep him speaks volumes. Yikes!

Russ hands have been messed up for a good while now, it’s the reason he lost his shooting touch. Guys had numerous fractures and surgeries on each hand.

As for SGA, everyone thought he was a nice piece, I remember his biggest fans thought he’d be an all star while his subtractors thought he was a 6th man. But no one thought they were trading an MVP or one of the best young guys in the league. The talk of the town was Luka, Trae, Donovan Mitchell, Tatum, the arrival of Zion etc.

The bubble warping perceptions when the players outside of the Clippers wine fest stated that it was the best pure ball ( no travel, no distractions, no home crowd excuses) still fascinates me

All the Denver and Jokic have done since doesn't seem to get to the Bubble legacy where that Denver did really beat a really good Clipper team and got pretty much stomped by the Lakers. That was a great win for Jokic/Murray legacy and the Bubble Lakers should absolutely be remembered as the last team to be basically easily take out a team that is one of the defining teams of this era

And I would even agree with such a comprehensive view, as long as it doesn't imply holding back any improvements for fear of overcrowding the cap.

With the expiring contracts we have, what we could aspire to are multi-year deals that aren't popular with the teams they belong to; if we also accept that similar contracts aren't for us, it means we truly accept this roster's shortcomings as such and hope to address them with potential buyouts.

Malone get fired, for being in a petty beef with his GM, which ended up getting both of them fired. I guess the owner and Jokic had enough of that drama.

He opted out his contract in Denver like Finney-Smith did, wierd decision that he opted out, after having hand surgery, going into free agency, off of a recent surgery for an injury, probably isn't an ideal situation at 36.

Still..two hand fractures and all, I find it hilarious that Westbrook shot better from 3, than Tinkerbell last season.

Grimes probably doesn't want to come off the bench behind Reaves either. It would raise some eyebrows in Austin's camp too, bringing in a 23 year old, that just avg 21pts a game at his position, in a contract year for him?

i find it hilarious that you keep comparing an unemployed bricklayer to a guy who signed at minute 1 of FA.

grimes is going to come off the bench almost anywhere, i think. but word is that philly plans to keep him no matter what. to me, though, why drag out the RFA stuff in that case. you don't want to create bad blood and have him go into UFA next summer. you're almost certain to lose him for nothing at that point. i expect they'll come to an agreement, but i'm not sure the flex by the team was worth the likely damage to the relationship. if you knew you weren't going to get close to their desired price, you should have worked a S&T.

Yeah and Tinkerbell was really pretty much irreplaceable here tho huh? Westbrook is 36 years old dude. Tinkerbell's in his prime.

    After putting up 21/5/5 37% in 33mpg at 24..
I'm not sure he’s coming off the bench pretty much anywhere at all. Philly would be wise to keep him.

Nah..Those numbers are pretty damn good anywhere, especially at his age. If Philly threw me a FRP, I'd consider trading Reaves for him, Luka can work with him. Cheaper option to boot.

well, we replaced him with luka doncic. we were going to have trouble finding a playmaker/scorer of his caliber with our assets, post-trade. in fact, lots of the bloggers were pointing this out during that time period between unexpectedly landing luka.

anyway, one thing everyone in the world can agree upon is that we were a better team with dlo than with the brick. well, every single living human except you.
