Fair enough.. but my boy hasn't even been able to work out, during the offseason for two seasons! Coming out of rehab, right into the fire ain't easy!

Vando is unplayable in the playoffs. He's been thru 3 different coaches who all end up him playing the 5

In the playoffs your offense is going to grind to halt as you're playing 4 v 5. Vando can't shoot, can't finish in traffic, has no mid range game like a floater, and has poor hands. With that combo, it ain't going to happen with some tweaks and change in personnel. An off-season of work is going to fix all that?

I've seen Lakers coaches try valiantly to make the offense work with him by putting him in the dunker spot, the corner, the screener and it all has failed miserably. The problem isnt the team or the scheme it's Vando. I guess hope springs eternal but it ain't happening

Vandos good regular season games blind folks to what happens when teams actually have time and the need to scheme against the Lakers. Offense falls apart and I hate to say it but his defense while good isn't at the level of the OKC guys like Dort and Caruso. He's not all NBA level defender

Vandos best series with the Lakers was Lakers vs. Memphis. He was great that series on defense very active. And he was making that corner 3 regularly.

No. Vando was just fine against Denver, Tinkerbell choked. When one of your expected offensive anchors, go MIA for a series you have to make adjustments. Leading to sacrificing some D, looking for more offense?

I don't think the 5 out scheme, is conducive to having a great defense myself. Not with our roster, especially if the offense falls off. Ham and Redick chased the same Dragon IMO. Spread the floor, get more shooting, rely on your perimeter game to do the bulk of the scoring. It's failed 3 times in a row, AD couldn't even touch the damn ball, in the 2nd halves sometimes against Denver. That's why Ham got fired. JJ doubled down on the same crap, it didn't work either.

Let's change it up, that's my take. Luka wants a 5 to be a 5, maybe we'll see some different results in the playoffs. I'm not putting in on Vando, as a defensive specialist, I'm not expecting him to play 30-40mins a game.

Caruso and Dort were getting torched at times too. If Haliburton hadn't gotten injured ,we'd have a different Champion. It's more to it, than having these great POA defenders.

Against Denver two years ago he started 2 games; averaged 12.5 minutes and in both games he was a -10 +/- and averaged 3 points and 1.5 rebounds. So he was a negative a point of minute.

Those are just fine in the Cardio-Gabe model of a roleplayer

Because we wanted to go all offense first, thinking that we could win like that. Again it didn't work did it? You seem to be implying that we just needed another offensive player out there, well hell...they tried it, it seems to me. Folks pay lip service to defense, but they only really care about offense. Lol..the other H-Town hustle that played for us, sometimes couldn't throw a brick in the Ocean. Like both he and KCP did against Phx. 30% from the field and 20% from 3, BOTH, in that series. Yet today.
they are considered to have been irreplaceable. It's more to the game bro.

So tell me how this POA defender of your choice, would have changed any of the 3 series that we've lost in a row.

yeah, this is the weird part to me. i get that he's simply not super coordinated, and so the shot is unlikely to get there, but you can finish at the rim, man.

anyway, i still like vando as a guy who can help you win several regular season games by just shaming his teammates into playing with effort.

i don't think he can guard many pgs effectively, though. scoring 3s and a lot of 2s, though, which we need.

Based on bbq IQ, I’m going with Bronny. He can really carve out a Marcus Smart type role in a couple of seasons.

Because he has already shown he can dramatically affect the outcome of a game with his tenacity on defense. His energy raises the entire team’s effort on the defensive end.
If he were playing for one of the NBA favorites like the Warriors or Spurs, he would be able to get away with Rodman like shenanigans and be applauded for it.
