I'm curious...assuming both deals were on the table for the same package of Rui, DK, & a 1st. Who would you rather trade that package for -- Kuminga or Wiggins?

I’d take the first out of it but I’d prefer Wiggins just because he’s won a championship and his potential fit here.

Don’t want Beal even for a Vet min. He needs the ball to be productive. I don’t want him taking touches from Luka, LeBron and AR. He is not a defender. We don’t need an aging ball dominant chucker. Didn’t we learn anything from the Westbrook experience?

Give me some young lengthy POA defender instead.

Beal for the minimum? Why not? He’s better than anyone on our bench currently.

Wow, Melton? That’d be awesome. An athletic guard entering his prime who can score in a variety of ways, including shooting the 3.

Uhm, I don't know what to think of Melton...
He's never been consistent in the offensive side; his % from the field have always been rather questionable. Very interesting defender, but he's still coming off a rather serious injury.

I would avoid Beal, considering that in Phoenix he had a lot of trouble accepting secondary roles, roles that are now in line with what he can give on a basketball court. If he could recycle himself as a volume scorer off the bench, fine: but he is clearly a player incapable of seeing himself so diminished.

Well fellas.....Who was our POA defender last season, because it wasn't Finney-Smith? Name the POA defender that you want now, that would have gotten us past Minnesota. Can anyone think of this POA defender that would have gotten us past Denver?

    I'm just curious...

If we just had Ayton, we win all three of those series BTW.

I think this one can take a while, but I don't know if he waits that long.

We may have a couple trade talks ongoing that would free the roster spot without cutting Milton. So we may be trying to finalize that before we sign Melton. If none of those trades happen, we switch Milton for Melton on July 20.

It was AR, and that's the issue.

With Caruso or KCP we have a better chance.
Ayton wouldn't make us win those games. We would be better, of course, but our problem is that Luka/AR/Bron/Rui are not perimeter defenders. So, not only we have a gap in defensive quality, but those guys get more tired because they need to do stuff on defense that they shouldn't do.

The 2 teams who made the Finals had both the most perimeter defenders, so it seems to be important.

At this point, I'm warming up to bring Jrue. We need a consolidation trade and he fits the bill. Good culture guy too. But I would only send expirings bar Rui and not sure Portland wants that, that's what they had with Simons. They don't want swaps with us, I guess, and I would never send a 1st. Even if we include Vando, I don't want to waste a FRP for a team to eat a contract, that's bad asset management. Not sure a deal can be found, but it's the kind of guy I could warm up to get

There is no blueprint man. We could have won a chip, if Tinkerbell didn't choke in the WCF. Vando was our best POA on that team.

Kcp and Caruso were solid, but they got torched against Phoenix, and neither of them, could throw a bucket in the ocean, in that series. There isn't some kind of Holy Grail at work here.

Okc won a chip with two quality bigs too, it wasn't just, all about some wing and perimeter players.

We didn't lose to Denver or Minnesota, because we didn't have a POA and wings either. I already mentioned Tinkerbell, he was subpar in the 2nd series against Denver too. He didn't need to be great on D in either. He needed to play his role, and score and facilitate, which he failed to do.

Conversely, If we had an Ayton caliber 5 next to AD. We are the bigger more physical team against Denver. Control the boards , dominate the boards and we win those series too.

Same thing with Minnesota, an Ayton type and Hayes, would have been enough IMO.

I think you guys get too caught up, with the hot new narrative sometimes. It was pace, then spacing, then 3pt shooting, then big wing defenders, now it's POA defender.

NO..it's pulling the best talent that you can find, and having some good health, a solid gameplan, and Star level talent to sew it all up. There is more than 1 way, to win in this league. I like bigs myself, and I also like stars. Those two work together great IMO. You build around the unique talent that YOU have, you don't try to emulate what someone else is doing.

    That's my take.
