Like I’m a little confused. How did Clarkson get 1 year 3 million. And Laruvendale get 2 yrs. 12 million?

Clarkson is 33 and never played a lick of defense. Laravia is only 23 and while his defensive metrics are up and down, he’s 6’7. He’s younger than Dalton.

I don’t put a ton of stock in us being the 3rd seed, not trying to be negative, but LeBron was awesome last year, how long can he keep doing that. We were also 2 games ahead of the 8th seed, and got our a** kicked in the first round. To me that says we’re closer to being a lottery team than actually competing. If the FO is throwing in the towel for this season and the next for 2027 cap space, that’s just not acceptable to me. Also, when was the last time someone took a pay cut to sign here to ring chase? We are obviously not trying, or someone is not selling us well, because other teams are doing it. Denver just did it today with Brown and their FO is fairly new.

It’s a brilliant ploy ply play by Pelinka if you can get Ayton to sign.

Luka yeah keep all the pieces add Ayton and then strengthen the bench.

so what does this look like??? Laverndale? Knect Vando Hachimura James that’s a strong bench.

are you signing Chris Paul or Ben Simmons???

I’m adding Deanthony Melton and Deandre Ayton as already signed by the Lakers.

makes too much sense. You can’t piss off Duffy having his client opt out do a buyout out of 35 million guaranteed on a deal and then renin on a deal. Bad buisness protocol for negotiating and signing a max contract with Luka Doncic his other client. Makes no sense.

They had to get someone, right? Definitely some minutes for a big to eat there. Back to a familiar stop

    1) Do your own research. 2) f*** them getting deeper. 3) You can have him, I don't want him at $9m a year. 4) I'm scared at how high we were on him. 5) Good for you BroLo, Disney is in his backyard again.

They desperately needed a PG who can walk and chew gum at the same time. He bandaids that for them for a year. He's not the high level facilitator they need, but enough to get them by until next summer.

Hawks are doing work! Took them 7 years to realize they need to surround Trae with a s*** ton of long defenders, but I think they're on to something this summer. With the East wide open, maybe they make some noise.

Sure. I don't think he's worth the tag , but you are convincing someone to move to Detroit.

Like the fit. Deal is a bit on the long side. Just glad they stayed off our center corner.

Houston is winning the summer. How many different pitches do they need at C? Losing DFS is going to hurt. Probably something KD asked for to ease his defensive burden.

Analytics says this is a win, don't know enough about him to have a thought. It's the Grizz, so it's probably a bad decision.

Piece of s*** human, so f*** him.

Saw this could turn into a S&T involving Monk. Good for DS, still trying to recoup that bag we offered him and he turned up his nose. Kings are truly a putrid organization. Please give us Ellis!

This one pisses me the f*** off. I know he's going back to where he's comfortable and had the most success, but after losing DFS we REALLY needed him. The market is very weak on such skills. I would've even given him the BAE assuming we could clear the needed room to make that happen. Him signing for the minimum hurts.

Bulls are dump and cheap. Has nothing to do with this signing, just front office operations since the breakup of the Rose/Noah/Deng squads.

This and DS had to be the worst kept secrets heading into the day. Good work Stein! DLO is a good fill in for them until Kyrie gets right. Nice situation for DLO.

I don't know. Kind of set the price on bigs. I also don't know what the plan in NO is. Zion and pray?

Wanted him to be in the mix for us at the minimum. Him getting $5.5m a year isn't great in terms of us filling out our center rotation.

    Grizz playing keep away.

Green and KD reunited. That's kinda of something, right?

Overpay? I think he's a minimum player at this stage.

no, I don’t mean that to sound like a bypass, mostly this is so dumb to announce it. I feel like that just keeps making the team look weak and cheap.

so I DO mean hire a better FO to keep their mouths shut and think without speaking.

It's getting ugly out there fast.

    Centers: Ayton a MUST
Backup Center: small ball with Nance?

    PFs: Nance
I'd list Yabusele, but he seems to have too competitive of a market

    SFs: Coffey, THJ

    SGs: Melton, GP2, Exum

    PGs: CP3 (Clipps bound?), Dinwiddie

Need Ayton, Melton or GP2, and one other from the list and then a trade for a better backup C AND a wing. I'm not hopeful.

It just feels like Rich talking and Rob coming out and saying “2027!” is just a way the team looks inefficient and out of date. So when O say the New Owner People need to take care of this, there should be WAY MORE competent people in the FO going “Nobody say our plan” just move forward and we’ll casually let things happen.

it just feels like people HAVE TO TALK because it’s the Lakers and I’m like “Anyone BUT the Lakers should talk about plans.”

    Get it done.

Needs: starting center, backup center, starting caliber 3&d-ish wing, another POA wing/guard, a point guard off the bench not named Gabe or from Miami.

Most player assets we've had in awhile. We don't have draft picks to trade, which hurts, but can use swaps or do the Suns trick and trade a swap for a pick that will unlock multiple picks in the process.

Today was a failure. Tomorrow is a new day.

    Elsewhere:

He would never have made a Thibs lineup, but for the min he's a great value for NYK.

I'm going to give it more than 7 hours into free agency before I panic.

I think people are reading too much into McMenamin's quote about 2027. It's specifically in the context of negotiations with a 32 year old coming off ankle surgery.

I mostly just read that as the team didn't feel DFS was worth the hit to future cap flexibility. The stuff about 2027 just feels like some editorializing by McMenamin, not necessarily a sourced scoop about a hard plan the FO is dead set on.

Like if hypothetically NAW was available at the MLE, I'm sure the FO would have been all over that because at his age they could envision him as a longterm building block whose contract is likely to appreciate in value. DFS isn't that.

and last year they said they were saving $ for this summer

jokic is the only big name FA in next year's class who it would make sense to save money for. and unless he wants to team up with luka, he's not coming here
