I think high level folks truly in the know have better spelling and grammar, but that’s just the skeptic in me.

those of us truly in the know keep the juicy stuff to ourselves

Absolutely I got nothing to hide. I’m just talking about what I did. I’m a businessman. Why would I lie. And it’s totally fine. Nothing to hate about. We all have opinions in here and do different things. Just keep it respectful. I’ve worked my a** off to get where I am.

I don’t lie. Usually when you have a workout. Players work out against others. So Klay was in my workout and I got him his workout. What’s not believable about that? He worked out with Alec Burks. They both shoot the ball and then they go on one on one. I had Kawaii Leonard also. Who I met who was a great guy.

Kawaii missed all of his shots and was so respectful. I told him Fisher says great things about him. He said Steve Fishers his guy. I’ve Known Kawaii since he was from Compton.

my other guy I got a workout was my guy I used to call Compton who was Brandon Jennings who came up to me at summer league and said you better draft me. Very cocky kid and I liked his confidence.

I knew him from high school when I thought he was going to Arizona not a high school California kid as he went to preparatory school back east. But a Compton kid.

my kid was Jrue Holiday who I was trying to angle to get since he was a Freshman at Campbell Hall. He was a kid prodigy.

Demar Derozen was a Compton kid never had him in a workout but knew him at USC I liked him.

Really liked Stephon Curry from Davidson when he was tearing up College. That wasn’t the same Steph. I wanted Jrue to be our guy who was a freshman. I didn’t see Curry’s workout. But he shot great. What I was told by our scouting department was the dad might be a problem like Archi they had an angle where they wanted to go but that was chatter. Great kid.

Jeanie Buss called me in College when I was in Theater class. I remember seeing a 310 number like who is this??? And she said Jeanie Buss with the Lakers. Very awesome girl. This wasn’t a basketball call she was just calling telling me Phil Jackson had an interest about a project I was working on at the time and she and him would have an interest in it.

She just called after I called her marketing girl.

being in professional basketball while I was in College was a blast. Made a lot of friends and just would talk and do regular stuff. Saw Batman Dark Knight rises with Kevin Durant when he was a rookie.

even in my position I was a Laker fan because I grew up in L.A. I was a football player. I was hired for my basketball acumen. Then I had an opportunity for buisness.

Masai played basketball with my cousin over seas. Just some advice most of the GMs are hired from scouting departments. Masai was one of those guys would leave tickets for my cousin when they played the Lakers and Clippers.

Brandon Jennings would come up to me in the workouts. Cause I knew the kid. I had guys who were my L.A. guys Brandon and Jrue were.

if I thought any agent would be a GM it would’ve been Bill Duffy because he was the sharpest. And very smart. Took a liking to me because the college I attended. Didnt see Leon Rose becoming a GM.

I would definitely like to get back into it. So I just watch Baskrball now and enjoy it. I have friends who you guys have never heard of Olden Polynice who played in the league. Most of my boys are retired.

and only reason Klays dad came up to me like that cause he did the Lakers games and knew I liked his son. Yall are like wow Klay Thompson this wasn’t the Klay Thompson now. This was the Klay Thompson who couldn’t get a look from USC or UCLA.

so you have parents who are passionate about their kids. I liked Klay and liked the family. So I had a biased and was pushing it.

Mistakes I made telling Jordan Farmar we were taking him and not taking him, then telling him hey at least it worked out. You got to go to the Lakers your hometown team. Kid would still come to my events. Great kid.

try to get Trevor Ariza who was from my town Culver City. Had seen his Mom Lolita. And I ran into Trevor Ariza at Circuit City in Culver City it’s not open now but he had his mom call me. Mom was like he couldn’t stand New York and they weren’t giving him any love and he wanted to play and get looks. And I told her I would try to help. Well he got to the Lakers and the rest is history.

and look it was a lot of fun. I’m thinking about trying to get involved with Big 3 and help them. I really like Cube and what they are doing helping guys coaches get their footing in coaching. And it’s a black owned buisness and I like supporting. Cube is so cool and really has a passion for basketball.

So I just watch my Lakers now. I’m working on doing some philanthropy work doing some things in Compton so I’ll be running into Demar Derozan soon. But our conversations have nothing to do with basketball and just supporting L.A.

Hey it’s all Lakers. I’m passionate because I see things that I’m like wow. They should totally do this.

But what I will say is Rob’s a great guy. They have a great team and Jesse Buss is a savage. Jeanie is a great girl.

I will say this about the Lakers it’s a first class organization. Not like other organizations. It’s like a family. And everybody is so nice.

getting Luka is going to be wonders for this team. As you see with Haliburton. The Lakers have one. All teams are lead by their point guards.

    The Lakers are right there.

Thanks Kl99 …. it’s hard filling in the blanks regarding whatever you were doing with whom or what team(s) while still in college (early on?) but that’s probably intentional with the whole history. Sounds legit. And sure I and am sure others remember Olden. :) Almost “agent ish” sounding too. Back on ClubLakers in the day we DID in fact have Trevor Ariza’s agent under a different member name break the news early that HE was coming to the Lakers in a trade when we desperately needed athletic defensive wings …. same as now.

Phil wasn’t Mr Rambis LOL. The story was he worked for AEG and sometimes when big names were rumored to be on their way to the Lakers those guys would have intel and have to get in gear with marketing plans. Or he might hear other stuff. Not sure but I seem to recall he said something about no longer working with them last time he posted (last year?)

Per AI: “Here's how AEG is involved:
    • Ownership: AEG holds a minority stake in the Los Angeles Lakers.
    • Ownership of the Kings: AEG owns the Los Angeles Kings. The purchase of the Kings was a key step in the formation of AEG's sports and entertainment division.
    • Arena Management: AEG owns and operates Crypto.com Arena (formerly Staples Center), which serves as the home venue for both the Lakers and Kings. This provides both teams with a "home court advantage" and distinguishes the arena as a hub for major sports and entertainment events.
    • Strategic Partnerships: AEG leverages its sports interests, including the Lakers and Kings, by hosting various other events in their arenas, particularly concerts, which generates significant revenue.”

This “sounds” good but how so? How about Johnny and Joey …. do you think they’re solid too?

I just double checked and remain surprised that no team has hired Ryan West into a high level front office position after his tutelage from Pops and good work with the Buss kids scouting and such reportedly, after all this time. Just listed still as a Scout with Detroit. Why would you guess that is so?

This is the trade the lakers should go for, we get younger, more athletic, a serviceable big, magic get a on ball creator, 3 shooters, Rui could come off bench for either Paulo or Franz

For the Spurs to get Durant it pretty much as to be Vassell, Barnes and Johnson going out in the deal. Not sure I like that for them. Barnes is whatever and Johnson is decent, but if I were them I’d really want to keep the Fox/Castle/Vassell trio together in the backcourt. I still think Vassell is more of a 2 than a 3. I’m not sure I want to trade him for Durant who will be 37 when the season starts.

With Harper coming in at #2, that's too crowded though. Someone's gotta go to better balance it
