Is Rob on the hot seat this summer? Why or why not?

    Nope.

Why not? Hmmmm.... maybe pulling off a trade everyone here would have considered impossible a year ago. Plus Jeanie likes him and trusts him.

Dallas was trading Luka, to anyone on their list. That wasn't the coup, that it was made out to be. It's like the AD trade ironically, he gets some credit, for signing the final paperwork.

I think Rob his tenure like gangbusters. Seemed like he had a plan A, B, C, and D waiting in the wings. I was super impressed, and Kobe endorsed him. And he helped us get rid of a worthless executive cheerleader Magic Johnson who was really nothing more than a rah rah guy.

Are the frustrations we have since those times all on him? Maybe he has money constraints placed on him and his stars interfered in his chili. I think we give him more time and I can live with the results.

We've had 1 good playoff run in the last 15 years. Mediocrity has settled in. There is no sense of urgency being shown. Lebron and AD wanted to come here, to play under Magic, not Rob Pelinka. Kobe would fire Rob if he came up short 4 times in a row, with 2 top 10 players. Best buddy or not. Kobe was ruthless.

    "It's Championships or nothing."

    Mamba mentality.

You must really be bored with nothing to do but look for arguments on line until next season. That's BS above. What does "play under Magic" even mean?!  LeBron wanted to be in L.A. period and especially for his ancillary media interests. And he and AD clearly had a plan to hook up here too with Klutch (LeBron) and AD's old man driving that.

I don't think Rob is great at his job and question a lot of his decisions, process and over course correction BUT for better or worse, stealing away Luka bought him probably 5 years with Jeanie (if she still around another 5) regardless of outcome.

Where the hell did LeBron EVER say, that his main interest in playing for the Lakers, were due his ancillary media interests? He could have went to the damn Clippers, if he just wanted to be in LA.

The Heyena would have signed here too, if Magic hadn't quit.
Lebron said that he wanted to play for Magic multiple times. He said that he was totally shocked that Magic quit. Where the hell were you?

Magic Johnson was a friggin idol to a lot of these kids. Everything wasn't all about Kobe to a lot of players, believe it or not.

LeBron said that would prefer to emulate Magic and Oscar, over Jordan and Kobe in HS. Did you miss that one too?

What the f*** is with you guys and this Magic hate? FOH with the BS man.

^^^ .... at the very least keeping AR out of the deal along with Max and who knows what/who else any other GM besides Niko would have demanded.

How did he steal Luka? Dallas was hell bent on getting rid of him. How is that a steal? If Jeanie had said no, Luka would be playing for someone else right now. He wasn't returning to Dallas period.

How do you know that? Why did they need Austin? Maybe he thought Max was a better fit for his team. And he didn't think Austin was worth a 30M extension.

Could say this same thing back to you with this Magic love fest as an executive here just because he was a GREAT player, especially ignoring that entire summer, after quitting in the tunnel before the season was over in grandstanding fashion, of literal sabotage of the team and his "sister" Jeanie with his "backstabbing (Rob)" "organizational mess" media tour while She, Rob and the team were trying to close the AD deal that he had tried to force upon NO prematurely mid season, and during their pursuit of Leonard and free agency in general. Even doing another like interview the very morning of Vogel's press conference.

If his sisterJeanie doesn't care, why should you? She is the one that sent Magic those emails, of Rob stabbing him in the back. That was never disputed. Rob said that Magic was never around and he was basically doing all the work.

Magic was the President for 18 months with Rob as his GM. Yet everything was all Magic, while Rob gets a million f***ing excuses for his f*** ups.

That man poured his heart and soul into our team. He was pissed and got emotional, I don't have a problem with it.

LMAO … now you know exactly what was in the emails. There was also the possibility/likelihood that indeed Magic was running the show and calling the shots with regard to player moves and potential moves …. and Rob’s frustration was not that he was doing all the work but rather he was as Kobe described him a grinder and doing his end of it on a piece by piece basis …. but then would have to stall as Magic wasn’t around regularly since he had his other businesses too …. and Pelinka couldn’t get timely answers/final approvals from the main Boss, too often, to be able to move on to the next order of business. Slick and Magic sittin’ in a tree with Vash there too … all because he was GREAT player and one of the greatest Lakers. Kobe in my book but certainly Magic and Kareem up there too.

Rob Pelinka was Kobe's agent and friend, so f***ing what? He wasn't a Laker, let alone the greatest Laker ever.

So damn right I'd take Magic's word over his. And Magic went live on ESPN talking what Rob said about him. And NOBODY disputed it. Rob only said that Magic misconstrued some things, he never denied stabbing that man in his back.

No.I said Magic over Kobe. Kareem over Kobe too. Kobe was one of the All time greats, but I don't rank him over either.

Well you sure worded it wrong LOL. Good for you with YOUR opinion. 13 seasons vs 20 for Kobe with more injuries and tolerance for pain played through with good effect than anyone in a highly skilled position in a contact sport ever IMO.

So what? That doesn't make him the better player. Kobe was tough ok.. but Kareem and Magic didn't get injured as much. They played in a much more physical era to boot.

The Magic man won 5 rings in 11 seasons. I don't even count that post HIV season. He put the entire league on his back with Bird, and boosted the popularity of the NBA. The Magic man was Showtime, the essence of who the Lakers were. The skill , the show, the TEAM.
He was even gracious enough to call Kobe the greatest Laker ever after his death. For me Mamba mentality was more about Kobe than the Lakers.

Enjoy your opinion it's cool. I loved Magic the player too. I would have him number two. Kobe was the highest all around skilled player every facet of the game, both sides of the ball of the three of them, drafted/traded for as a Laker and played 7 more seasons than Magic.
