I’m not to worried about where he ends up if Rob does his job this summer and brings in the right pieces to maximize Luka.
On the other hand, imagine him on OKC- that would be scary.

He may get to the point of having most regular season wins, but nobody is going to come close to Phil in Championships. He will remain the best Professional Sports Head Coach of All Time.

If the Lakers keep Rui they should look at Yabusele as backup to him.

Which will entail at least two quality bigs and a high end backcourt running mate. That's what got Luka to the Finals.

I agree. Front office has work to do. Will be interesting to see what we come up with.

we need a good center to at least start halves, an athletic perimeter defender to start games, and AR needs to be the sixth man of the year next year.

my current hopes are nic claxton and keon ellis, but we may not have enough to get either or both.

    large upgrade at center
    bron
    rui
    luka
    athletic defender

    dfs
    AR
    goodwin

i'm ok keeping vando, particularly as his salary is hard to move, so to get the two spots of need, we'll have to use gabe and kleber's expirings, knecht, our first, and/or possibly an exception.

we might not be able to accomplish the ideal vision, but we should be able to approximate it with our current assets.

hopefully, we can be opportunistic on some of these major deals that will go down, like how boston got holiday off the dame deal. some good role players that bad teams don't need are going to get lost in the shuffle; maybe we can scoop a couple up.

I think our direction should be fairly obvious now:

We build around Luka. He is a superstar who has shown the ability to carry the team and make it a contender. Bron will be here one more year. He is going to do quite alright as a super role-player before he retires. Reaves needs to embrace the Ginobili role and go for the 6MotY, because we have a bigger priority in the starting lineup.

    What we need:
    • A huge upgrade at the 5. Someone who can play big, score and rebound the ball.
    • A legitimate starter who is athletic, can defend and shoot the 3 consistently, even if that person is not a huge scorer.
    • Bench depth; guys who can put in meaningful minutes while playing hard, with a ton of energy.
Basically, we go with Luka/Athletic defender-shooter/Rui/Bron/New center

We bring Dorian, AR and potentially Goodwin off the bench, everyone else can be used to get what we need. It's not going to be easy to build the ideal team overnight, but it's doable. Gabe/Maxi/Knecht/pick and potentially Vando are probably gone.

Basically, get bigger, get more athletic, try again. JJ showed he's a passionate and smart coach, but his inexperience cost us this year. I mean, I expected all of this, more or less, am not mad at anyone. We are set up for the future, but we can't try doing the same thing again, because it clearly does not work.

I know I am not saying anything you guys don't already know here, but I just had to get it off my chest. :)

I get his anger. He definitely wanted to be here and would've helped for sure.

But the more things went along, our glaring hole in the middle just made me feel even more that we really did see something serious in his physical.
