Let's hope Carr's hand heals quickly. The Raiders will stumble into the playoffs if they're lucky if he can't throw.
man we blew this game... 3 and 1 and we go for a fade instead of letting one of the backs pound it for the 1st down? then 4 and 6 we go to a floater outside that is basically a jump ball? WTF we cost ourselves ALL GAME.
It's a loss. That spot will stand. Raiders punched in the mouth and couldn't respond on offense. Too many injuries right now. The line will return. How quickly can Carr get that pinkie straightened out? We cannot win without a passing game.
I also think we suffered from trying to loft the ball into places. Very few quick hitters. Questionable calls on offense and the Defense (Amerson specifically) sucked early but balled in the second half. This loss is on Carr and Coach Jack to me.
We'll be there as a Wild Card entry barring a total collapse. San Diego, Indy and at Denver. I see us ending up at 12-4. Hopefully Kansas City loses two games in their last three. They get Tennessee, San Diego and Denver.
Maybe some stats to make us feel a little bit less bad: RUSHING Latavius Murray moved into 18th all-time on the Raiders' rushing list with 2146. He's also 12th all-time with 20 TDs. He's 9th in rushing yards per game, too. Latavius Murray isn't seeing the big yard numbers on the season, but his 12 TDs are tied for third best in a single season. Only Marcus Allen's 13 and Pete Banaszak's 16 are better. RECEIVING Cooper and Crabtree are 22nd and 32nd in receiving yards all-time with the Raiders. They're 28th and 25th in receptions. Rivera is 29th. Finally, Crabtree, Holmes, and Cooper are 20th, 27th, and 33rd in receiving TDs. Cooper has the 22nd most receptions in a single season in franchise history. Cooper joins Tim Brown, Todd Christensen, Art Powell, Cliff Branch, Jerry Rice, and Warren Wells as the only Raiders with multiple 1000 yard seasons. Cooper is currently 24th in yards. SCORING Janikowski is closing in on being 1000 points ahead of the nearest Raider (Blanda). Blanda had 863. Janikowski is up to 1783. Ridiculous. Janikowski has 108 points, tying him for 12th best in franchise history. He needs only four poins to move into the top ten - again. He already is in the top ten five times. His 25 FGs made are tied for 8th best. DEFENSE Amerson, Hayden, and Carrie are all in the top 10 for Passes Defended in their Raiders career. Khalil Mack is 8th in Forced Fumbles -career - for Oakland. He's up to 11th in sacks. With 1.5 sacks, he'll move past Lance Johnstone and Sean Jones into 9th place. PUNTING Marquette King has the 6th best season average for punting, further breaking up Lechler's stranglehold on the top spots. Lechler had the top 12 seasons before King showed up. King has now taken two of those top six spots. PASSING Carr's back in the top 10 with 3492 yards. He's within striking distance of 7th place in next week's game. His 24 TDs are 12th best.
Even after the loss, given the uneven performances this season, we have 10 wins which is an achievement in itself. Sure we can have higher expectations but as a group, they are growing collectively and will be even better next season.
OK now that I have had time to think about the game and have a few quick takes. I don't think KC runs the table and we have the better team plain and simple. That game was lost on Carrs inability to pass the ball. A bad punt by King and defense slow start gave them a lead we just didn't make up. That being said, KC has been winning on some "luck of the Irish" type plays. All teams get a win or two that way (winning teams that is) but KC has been living on them this season. Raiders showed that the defense can be amazing (2nd half) and the running game seems to be back. Coach Jack (play calls on 3rd down late) and Carr (couldn't throw) really stopped us from winning that game. I honestly don't fear any team against us. We need to bounce back next week for sure. We need to spank the Chargers and Tennessee needs to break KC's luck. Pissed about the loss but think overall we are better suited to bring it all together come playoff time.
great stats here. I think Amerson has been the weak link for us when we give up those big plays. He needs to work on his discipline and focus. All KC's big pass plays had the back of his Jersey on all the big play replays. King made a mistake that was costly. Carr made some bad pass that were costly. Think 3 of our brightest stars hurt us but that isn't the norm (outside of Amerson)
