There's a saying..."can't fix stupid." Chris Burke's Power Rankings at SI: 2. Oakland Raiders last week: 2 record: 10–2 It’s not just that Derek Carr is compiling wins and big numbers through the air. He also is protecting the football at an almost unprecedented rate. According to Pro Football Reference, 679 quarterbacks in league history have attempted at least 400 passes in a season, including Carr this year. Carr’s interception rate of 1.09% (five INTs on 458 attempts) is the fourth-best among them, behind only Tom Brady (2010), Steve DeBerg (1996) and Aaron Rodgers (2014).
Nice interview and write-up from SI's Peter King... http://mmqb.si.com/mmqb/2016/12/07/derek-carr-oakland-raiders-quarterback-peter-king-mailbag
I think Kansas City has as complete a team as anyone the problem is the weak link on their team is the most important position in football.
They're both ahead of us in Sagarin's rankings, too, and I think both teams are quite good. Oakland has now played a relatively easy schedule. Seven games against teams outside the top 16. This game is going to tell us - and pundits - a lot about who we are. Let's hope for the best.
whelp today's the day. Tonight is gonna tell us whether the raiders have gone from a laughing stock to a team on the way to becoming contenders or from a laughing stock to actual contenders. Its gonna be cold and loud in Arrowhead and the Chiefs are a great team. IF the Raiders pull it will be the biggest win since Gannon was taking snaps. This is the most excited I have been for a football game since Oak vs TB in the superbowl. Let's hope that we have something celebrate tonight. Here is a cool article about the magnitude of the game: http://www.foxsports.com/nfl/story/...t-important-preview-prediction-matchup-120816
I don't have classes tomorrow, so I'm going to be up. Might even crack open a Christmas Ale I've been saving.
I have finals on Monday... So I took Friday and Monday off to give me time to knock em out... AND so I could stay up and watch the game lol
Had analysis of the game playing for the last forty minutes in my office hours. I think we take it by a score.
SI picked KC 24-20. They predict Carr to commit two turnovers. Our running game showed life against Buffalo. It will be of importance to establish it tonight...keep our defense off the field given their penchant for surrendering big plays. It will be close. Not nervous (odd) because whatever the outcome, we still have a more than excellent chance of being in the playoffs.
if we avoid the drops and play for the full 60 I think we win by 2 scores. Our running game will be huge the backs need to eat up yards today and the pass rush needs to make Smith make mistakes. Amazing how many analysis are all over the guy for "game managing." Don't get me wrong that is great and KC is a great team with a stadium that is tough to play in BUT teams can win there and they are not a perfect team. It is almost like Raiders are getting knocked for winning late that KC is being praised for when they win. 2 straight weeks in a row KC won because of bad decisions by the other team at the end of the game. Yes, they made the plays to win so not taking credit from the victory but sheesh if it was Oak that did that these past 2 weeks we would hear more about what Den and Atl did to "help" us win. Im going to have to disagree with Sama that this game will define if we are contenders or not because I think we have already proven that we are no matter the outcome. What it will do though, if we win, is put a serious fear in the AFC that the road to the SB may have to go through Oakland and not KC or NE. Win and we put the world on full notice for sure. I personally want to see a destruction of KC. BTW, back on to Warner the other night they were talking about Smith and Carr and I swear dude almost laughed when the host asked was Carr an MVP candidate. After some nonsense he then say (paraphrasing) If the Raiders finish well then he has def made a case to be mentioned as a viable MVP candidate. It is almost comical. I want Carr and crew to put on a damn Remember the Titans style A**whooping on KC for lots of reasons but one has to be to see Warner have to finally get on Carr's jock.
Kansas City is in the bottom ten of both total offense and defense. That would concern me if I'm a KC fan. They're living off turnovers and special team plays it seems like. Dallas and Oakland may have shaky defenses, but they at least have high octane offenses.
We got to put it on them early. KC looking at home cooking right now. Right now Carr looks to be trying to place the ball instead of throwing it. Hopefully he gets his groove quick
